Thank you, Lin...excellent suggestion. I did return the printer to the customer yesterday and told her to use the high quality/plain paper setting for a while and do the occasional head cleaning.
I only have used pigmented black for the PGI-5 refills - the colour dye inks are not a problem...
Good ideas... thank you both.
I have tossed away the offending cartridges, but the next time I come across this problem, I'll upload one
OK. here it is.... http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/uploads/302_ital_test_print_1.jpg
It's very hard to see as the pic has gotten smaller during the upload...
Some ink may be slowly leaking from the printhead when your printer has not been used for a while, in which case it might cause a splotch on the underside when you start printing, since it seems to go away after a few prints. Try a different genuine or refilled PGI-5 cartridge and see if that...
Not enough information. The ink you purchased...is it "Universal"-type ink. or is it ink made specifically for your HP printer?
In general, Universal inks are not recommended but may work for while. You are better off buying inks specifically made for your printer.
Will you be printing a a...
Every once in a while while using a BCI-3 or CLI-8 cartridge, I will get text printing that looks like Italics, not normal print. Not every line does this, just an occasional line here and there on the page, which makes it even more confusing. I also get the odd (sometimes very odd) customers...
Except for the fact that the newer cartridges are smaller, and as yet, I have not seen a chip resetter for them. Try f you can to find another model using the larger, easy-to-reset pgi-5s and cli-8s
Usually, this means that some foreign object is impeding the paper from being pulled through. I have found in people's printers small pieces of styrofoam, paper, a piece of rubber, and even a wooden match. Try to blow it out with a vacuum cleaner.
If that does not work, carefully hold the...
Truestar cartridges are made in the USA as marked on most of the cartridge boxes, and each cartridge comes with a return address envelope to California for the empties.
I don't know whose inks they use or if they manufacture their own ink. I do know, that customers overall are pleased with them...
Hi, Trigger 37... that is good info... I thought it might have been a defective chip, but it was the resetter after all.
Atlantic Inkjet has closed it's Canadian Office and warehouse recently. The website is still up, and their American affiliate is still operating. Anyone ordering in Canada...
I have been selling Truestar cartridges from Atlantic for almost 3 years now, and I do a lot of refilling in my business. Every TrueStar cartridge I have seen in 3 yearsof the PGI-5 and cli-8 series is a genuine, refilled Canon cartridge, WITHOUT EXCEPTION. They just went out of business and I...
Whwn you peel off the TrueStar label on the PGI-5s and CLI-8s from Atlantic Inkjet, you will see that they are genuine Canon cartridges, reconditioned and refilled.
There are great for your own refilling, of course....
While the other suggestions were excellent, the fact that you can still find your beloved refurbished MP780 printer for sale, one that uses the BCI-3 and 6 series cartridges, is almost enough for me to believe in miracles again. Congats!
Seriously, you have done well...AND you would have been...
There are no silly questions here - just people willing to learn and help others learn. There are experts greater than I on this matter, but before you invest in equipment and inks while you learn the ropes, you should ask yourself these questions before you decide.
How much will you be...
If all you want is the driver, You can download just the driver from the Canon site. Or...you can put in the Canon CD, choose "custom" install, and install the option(s) you want.
I'm sure qwertydude and msmart are correct. Sounds like dye-based ink in a cartridge designed for pigmented ink to me as well.
To be 100% guaranteed that you are using pigmented ink for your BCI-3 cartridge, you can buy genuine Canons OR refill these easily with pigmented ink designed for Canon...
It depends....If it has been lightly used, it still might be a bargain. Ask to use it for a week, use the unclogging methods you find here, and soon you will know if it is worth your while to purchase the printer. if it does work out, you will have a real deal, since it is a printer which is...
Ask your friends if any of them has any of the following printers : All of them use the qy6-0049 printhead, and it would be good to test a used printhead before buying a new one.
