Thanks.
Ya its a cool printer.
Unfortunately last year, I found myself in a very unfortunate situation in which I was helping my friend install a CISS system into a Canon pro 9000, only to find that we had only managed to get ink in every corner of the printer except onto the paper.
We totally...
Thanks for the support. So here is the January update.
I just got off the phone and it turns out we're going to need CANVAS prints. Not glossy or photopaper.
We'll be printing out several hundred full color style prints on this paper...
I was just looking around for a laser printer that does larger scale prints - currently I can only find an 11x17 laser printer locally.
It seems that, as I look online, that is pretty much all that is available on a wide scale.
So i was just thinking how large scale inkjet printing has kind of...
I need some dirt cheap 8.5 x 11 glossy.
Don't care about quality. But it does have to be "glossy photo paper"
http://www.coastalbusiness.com/specialty-8-5-x-11-photo-paper-2.aspx
this website has 1000 pieces for $100 bucks (the second item on that page)
So that's about a dime per page.
I've...
Thanks
I called Staples and Office Depot
- basically they can both print posters for about 8 dollars per square foot
- but office depot has an 11x17 laser printer for 2.19 per page
I should probably still call Kinkos.
thanks for the tip
i actually used to own that printer. If I can't use CISS then that wouldn't make it economical to print posters though no??
Ya I would very much like to just find someone willing to print them for me
On page 1 Adoramapix.com was recommended. They have a 12X18 print for $5.58...
Thanks man those are great leads
I'm in california and it would be cool if I could find someone to sell me the whole kit closer to home. I'm assuming octoinkjet is in the UK.
eitherway i'll have a look - thanks!
Thanks
It seems that this company does do 12X18 prints for $5.58
That's a pretty good price.
I would love to get to .40 cents per sheet though -- if we had to do it ourselves.
We don't have much demand time -- it can be a couple weeks out.
Thanks for the response.
They don't have to be too weather resistant i suppose... Currently, we spray our inkjet canvas with a protective coat after printing. I guess if we could eliminate that step, that would be preferred.
the style is basically all color photos on glossy paper.
Ya i...
This summer we'll be needing to print a couple thousand various 13" x 19" (mini) posters.
The ink does not have to be archival nor do we need "museum quality" prints.
We just need a VERY economical yet reliable CISS printer to bust these out -- sometimes 50 a day.
Suggestions for a printer...
i am using this one: http://goo.gl/2TDYR
Click the top right picture to enlarge.
(I still have no idea what that syringe thing and that needle thing is for....???)
I could try it
But whats weird is this worked for several months without a quality issue.
Same CIS tanks
Positioned at the same level
Doing the same number of prints
On the same paper
etc...
The only thing that changed is, I squirted in some new ink into all 6 tanks.
I don't see any bubbles...
Thanks
Mikling was very kind and answered my PM. He mentioned he's getting a new batch of chips in after January and that these might account for the chip issue.
I do need to print as soon as possible though.
In light of the above link, it appears that I would buy the top one here...
Ya gotta be something like that
Update
So today I tried to pay close attention to the ink levels on the computer, whilst the printer was going -- to see if there was a correlation between the error, and the purported ink levels.
I guess the bottom line is there doesn't seem to be a...
Update:
So i had another day of printing for a brief period of time again.
So for the last 3 days, the cycle has gone like this:
Print ~10-30 (pretty good looking) prints.
Get progressively increasing banding marks on the prints.
Shut down printer.
Wait 10 hours.
Go to step 1.
It's strange...
wow thanks
this sounds like quite a job.
I'm wondering though, in light of the other thread, i'm now thinking that the only way i'm going to avoid more "unrecognized cartridge" errors is to actually buy a different CISS system anyway...
e.g. even if i get this flow problem fixed, i'm still...
I attempt to do alignment but each square is SO bad, that they are literally all of the same poor quality. Choosing any square to be "better" or "worse" wouldn't even matter because every square on the page is unreadable. I'm assuming this tells me that I have an ink issue.
My nozzle check...
