Am meeting some success. I went through all the steps again that I mentioned earlier. I've learned that "technique" over the years. And another basic is quite simple: patience. Sometimes letting the printer sit a while works. Looking back, I think I had some serious air blockages and they worked...
I haven't been here for months, my 1400 had finally settled down. Every few days I did a nozzle check and it was perfect almost every time. Once in a while I'd do the simple head cleaning in the 1400 Maintenance menu. My inkset is Paul Roark's Eb6, where the carts include one with 100% black...
OK... I've now removed the air intake plugs, and I've run a nozzle check. Excellent check, one cart has a dash missing and those usually go away with time. Probably just a temporary air bubble.
Sheesh.
@websnail :
There was a saying I learned in the days of DOS: SPSF (Sound of Palm Smiting Forehead).
I think you've nailed it. It's too late for me to try it now. But here's the excuse for my stupidity:
Those carts have never had ink in them, they were strictly for storage of Piezoflush (or...
Thanks @Ink stained Fingers. I've used that technique (sparingly!) on a single cart with some success but not with all six. After thinking about that for a while I recalled a method that consisted of removing the filler plug of the problem cart running the cleaning cycle. This worked well for...
I haven't had printer problems for months until now. I have a 1430 "in mothballs", the carts are filled with Piezoflush. No offense to those who use other cleaning fluids! To the best of my knowledge Piezoflush makes a good mothball technique. Once a month, in fact one time it was seven weeks I...
Turned out the printer was just fine... see my other thread, starting with the word "Swapping... " The 1430 was connected to a Mac, we temporarily connected it to my PC and got excellent prints right away. We don't know how to set up the Mac, that's the problem. Our Mac friend is coming over...
All worked out fine... I chose the simple solution to work on my friend's 1430. I simply pulled my 1400, set it aside, set her 1430 in its place, connected the USB cable to my desktop right next to it, plugged in the power cord and voila. Test print worked right away, no need to install new...
Whew! Thanks, @stratman, glad I asked. I didn't set up my printer to be in the wireless mode, someone else did, so this is beyond my pay grade.
I asked because my workroom is small, and desk space is sparse. But I'll figure out other physical arrangements... I have a 1400 that is cabled...
Guess that lengthy subject line should describe my situation. My 1430 is across my small office from the router and it's been working without a hitch. A friend has just bought a 1430 refurb and I'd like to work on it for her. Can I just set my 1430 aside and put her 1430 in its place without...
The first 3 or 4 prints were just fine, beautiful in fact. Using OEM carts on glossy Epson paper. But soon there was some serious banding from the black cart. The cleaning utility didn't help much. The ink level for the black was about about 2/3 full. The color positions showed full, as they all...
Thanks, The Hat, I didn't know that about Piezoflush and Canon carts. As for pharmacist's solution, I did mix up a small batch. Being it's transparent it was hard to discern whether my nozzle checks were good or not. I do have some red dye, got it from MIS inks. How much would I add to the...
I don't work for InkJet Mall, first of all!
I print almost exclusively with my 1400, but I know it won't last forever. So in March 2015 I bought a 1430 as a backup. I made some color prints, but then removed those carts and replaced them with a new set of carts filled with Piezoflush. My plan...
Picture in your mind those little rubbery plugs used for the filler hole and the air vent hole in a refill cartridge. Easy to get out but hard to put back in. The more you press, the more the plug widens and it becomes almost impossible to insert it in the hole.
Then I began to study the small...
@PeterBJ : Thank you... I agree that my purpose was not clear. I have a 932C that can print that file without a computer, using taptests. But I couldn't print out that test with my other printer, an 842C. I don't have the tap code for it, nor do I have a driver for it. (Your attached taptest you...
Where can I find a larger more printable version of this file?
It's familiar to us as the pattern you get when running the Alignment utility for the HP 9xx series. What I show here is the best I could find, at 96 ppi, about 3x4 inches. I'd like something at around 250 ppi, at 8 1/2 x 11...
