I bought a very clean, lightly used, Epson 1430, equiped with a set of 6 carts. The ink and carts are from an online dealer named CISInks. The carts are ver. 6.0 I was happy to see. What I like about that version is that they were not ARC chips, or if they were, the carts could be reset with an...
Ah, merde, I don't have any yellow. I just added a small bottle of magenta to a fairly large order, and am not likely to have a large order again for a while. :( Most of my work is in b/w, and pigment. My understanding is that Piezoflush, being a dye, calls for any addition to be dye.
Anyhow...
Thanks to you, Ink stained!
I didn't want to add more ink, I was thinking too much would weaken the effectiveness of the Piezoflush. You didn't ask me why I quit adding the Piezoflush - I just thought I'd throw that in!
I do have one of those UV flashlights... it works quite well on a...
Using straight Piezoflush, I can barely make out the pattern, so tried adding about 10 mL magenta to 100 mL Piezoflush. That wasn't enough and was reluctant to add more, My printer is an Epson 1400 and I'd like to put it in storage once I get rid of a stubborn sloping line in the cyan pattern...
I do have such a flashlight, got it for another project. Thanks for pointing that out! And that helped.
I'd still like to know if the exisiting colorant is dye or pigment... can you shed some light on that for me? Doesn't have to be UV light. (groan!)
I'm a big fan of Pieozgraphy but I have one issue... the low visibility of a nozzle check. It's a very dilute pink and hard to see. I'm thinking of adding about 5ml of magenta (not the light version) to about a 100ml of the Piezography in its present state. It might need more.
Is the present...
ISF,
Whew... that's rather discouraging news! However, I've had good luck with InkjetMall cartridges. They're marked ver 6.0 but I think it was Jon Cone who told me they had the "ordinary" 6.0 architecture chips modified to work on 6.3 equipped printers, such as the 1430. I'm using a set of...
I'm working with a used Epson 1430 which is equipped with version 6.0 chips marketed by CISinks. Even though they're 6.0 I have reason to believe there are ARC chips in the carts. I'm used to using 6.0 chips in my other 1430 and its carts are individually resettable.
The previous owner [of the...
Looks like we have crossed messages! Please take a look at my message just before yours, sorry!
I think I'll take a pass on a CISS for now, but I appreciate your research. I did disable my firmware updates, Jon Cone alerted us to dangers there.
Sounds like you hit on it, Ink. I must say that the world of ARC is something I've heard of, but never experienced. I ended up with preferring individually resettable carts that are set with an external resetter on my other 1430. But when I bought this 1430, the seller told me to be sure to...
I may have been doing something foolish. After some research, I think the answer may be simply that the chips do need to be 6.3 in a 1430 printer. However, the ver 6.3 carts cannot be reset independently with an external resetter. The cartridges will be in a "master-slave" relationship, the...
I bought an Epson 1430 from a photo store that was going out of business. It was used by the owner for clients, and it’s in excellent shape, no clogs. Got it for $150 and I thought it was a pretty good deal. It came equipped with ink and ver. 6.0 chipped carts from CIS Inks. It hasn't even been...
I've been mixing ink for b/w printing for some time, but there's always room for improvement.
I'm using Paul Roark's 6 position inkset, ie Eboni black ranging from 100% to 2% black, with a clear base fluid. Here's a variety of questions:
-> should I use one syringe for the black and diluted...
I use Eboni carbon ink and I usually get it from MIS Ink Supply but I've had trouble placing an order. I do have a liter of their Eboni ink and the label says to use it by Sept. 1 so it's now 4 months past that. It's unopened, sealed. and stored in a dark cool place in the basement. I'm in a...
Thanks, Palombian,
I thought I was up to date, but as I examined the update page, I realized I was up to only 1903. Upon more careful reading I noticed 1909 under the Features heading, that appears to contain more, well, features than 1903. So I went ahead and updated my Windows 10 to 1909...
I'm printing with an Epson 1430 and QTR (QuadToneRip). Yesterday, suddenly, when I tapped the Print button, nothing happened. I tried a couple times, no luck. I got out of QTR to look at the Queue reading in the Windows 10 utility, and there was nothing in the Queue. I went to the Print Spooler...
Am wondering... are you using OEM Epson color carts? My blue toner is in what would be the yellow cart in a color inkset. In black and white printing, the other five carts are various dilutions of a carbon ink known as Eboni ink. To my knowledge Epson doesn't make a black inkset.
But of course...
