    Epson XP series

I have not yet given up on an XP series printer even though this may qualify me as a chronic masochist or because i want to oppose epsons ink extortion racket. The quality of letter/A4 glossy photo prints is great for 4 colors. I can only see color dithering at < 20 cm viewing distance. And...

    Epson Dx6000 Clogged Black

    a) didn't you say you only have a problem with black ? That nozzle check looks bad for multiple cartridges. b) As ISF said, do all the cleaning run nozzle check with some original cartridge. c) which plugs do you remove when you print ?

    Epson Dx6000 Clogged Black

Did these come with any instructions ? Remove all the print on pages on the cartridges and compare the black with the coloured ones (whcih seem to work for you if i understand it right) and check if you can see a difference. The video on the URL i included in my last post had a step of...

Opinions on Precision Colors newer EV6 dyes?

Pretty sure you're correct about legal enforcements being the reason why even chinese vendors these days may not dare to offer ARC for newer printers in the US region. I think the term customer advocacy has not been translated into US english yet. Of course this does of course then beg the...

    Epson Dx6000 Clogged Black

Isn't this the cartridge you use ? http://www.inkowl.com/inkjet/refillable-cartridges/epson/easy-to-refill-cartridge-pack-for-epson-workforce-pro-t7011-4-t7021-4-t7031-4-europe/P5458/ This one doesn't seem to have sponges in them, so i wouldn't know what the possible reasons could be why ink...

Opinions on Precision Colors newer EV6 dyes?

I did not follow the technology a lot in the last decade, i guess to remember all those attempts to make cartridges so comple that rebuilding/refill was difficult. Until i guess the chips became cheap enough that you could just revert to the most cost effective well working cartridge design...

    Epson Dx6000 Clogged Black

From the 101 refill class i took myself 2 weeks ago: To check whether you have a head or cartridge problem, first put an original cartridge in, maybe run another cleaning cycle and a few black pages. When the problem goes away, you have a refill cartridge problem, else a printer head problem...

Opinions on Precision Colors newer EV6 dyes?

Just sent an email to PC. But i also got a cheap replacement cartridge set from ebay and they seem to have the same construction, aka: during operations in the printer three is just an open air vent above the sponge area, so the sponge can deplet into the printer, but the big reservoir area with...

Color profiling beginner questions (colormunky etc)

Yes, i1match should do printer profiling with the i1pro i have. But its a Mac PowerPC app so it will run (emulated) on an Intel Mac only up to MacOS 10.6.x and its quite difficult to put an old MacOS onto a new Mac into a VM. i think my next step is rather getting Windows 7 into a VM on the...

Opinions on Precision Colors newer EV6 dyes?

I bought empty refill cartridges from precisioncolors.com (with sponge) and with EV6 ink.I first tried to print the argyll stripe pages (on glossy) and when those came out with banding i started to hunt down and fix ink/cartridge issues before redoing the stripe pages and profiling. Profiling...

Opinions on Precision Colors newer EV6 dyes?

Paper was HP everyday photo letter size. I ended up wasting a lot of time printing miserable results because (i think) i did not fill/refill the bloody Epson 273 cartridges correctly and not all nozzles would simultaneously render ink correctly when printing full letter color photo or glossy. It...

Color profiling beginner questions (colormunky etc)

i1 pro arrived on friday, ebay $300, had basic accessories. Actually, a 2005 GretagMacbeth. See i1 diagnostics at the end. Label on devise says revision B, i1diagnostics reports A. No idea. But moving over the stripes works quite fast.. 5 secs per A4/letter stripe ?! i1profiler of course would...

Photo quality comparison: 3 vs 5 ink XP models

thanks for the explanation. Can you think of any reason other than badly written driver/firmware why the gammut would be worse on a printer like the l800 than on the much cheaper wf2010w ? In '88 i built a color printer driver as an exercise in university and vividly remember that the colors...

Photo quality comparison: 3 vs 5 ink XP models

fascinating. thanks. I can see the difference in dither resolution, but at that side you're probably right that it might be irrelevant when just looking at the results (without microscope etc.). I i recognize the l800 patch, but i am not sure how to follow the conclusion of wider gammut. i do...

Photo quality comparison: 3 vs 5 ink XP models

None of these L models shows up on epsons German web page. Nor on its US web page. Poland and China do have them though for roughly the same prices. Chip slaves vs. free ink flow countries ? The 8xx series is A4 only. The difference between the A3+ L1300 and L1800 series really seems to be 3.3...

Photo quality comparison: 3 vs 5 ink XP models

Thats not what i meant. Those CISS printers are great, and if i had the volume, i would go for them. I was thinking just of any of the existing cartridge printers but at a higher printer price so that you could put any third-party and/or refill cartridge in. Ecotank/CISS is a necessarily a...

Photo quality comparison: 3 vs 5 ink XP models

The B&H photo price of 129 for the Pixma 100 is certainly very tempting. I just can't figure out what benefit i would leverage: I think I do not need A3+. I do not need A3 in volume. SIngle paper feed should be fine. I would still need another device for scanning, duplex printing. Two devices...

Photo quality comparison: 3 vs 5 ink XP models

Thanks. XP-900 does not have ethernet, but that should be fine. The XP-820 is now running also via wifi and that seems to not cause any trouble. But i have not checked exactly what powersave options there are. Eg: No idea if the printers have WoL, then ethernet would be nice. The XP-900 also...

Photo quality comparison: 3 vs 5 ink XP models

I bought an XP-820 using it with EV6 ink and am quite happy with it. Now i wanted to get a second printer for another location where photos are more important, and also A3. So i wonder whether to get an XP-900 that uses 4 colors for photos (CMYK) or the XP-960 that uses six colors for photos...

bad color when copying - any fix ?

yes, copying directly to photo paper. The epsons menu only offers to select paper type but no color adjustments - at least i have not found anything ;-(
