Thanks a lot!
Your data sets had only one pigment example, and the results for that where not really good. So i wonder how pigment ink got its positive hype. The way i understand it, both pigment and dye are organic molecules solid at room temperature, and dye is just dissolved in a solvent...
You're the one who figures out what printer models are almost identical (eg: when we discussed L1300/ET14000) ;-)
Download printfab windows, it comes with 30 days trial license for free, and try to use the ET2550 driver on your L300. From Epsons web pages it looks like the same print print head...
Thanks, ISF,
I have not had the time to investigate the archival quality dye ink, i am just worried about two pieces, maybe you can put them into perspective:
1. "the embarrassingly poor results for the Fotonic XG inks is unlikely to be helped very much by any other media"...

If those folks did actually test what they wrote, borderless print is really only a driver feature problem.
I like your direction. I may want to try the same , so i am also interested in good photo pigment ink to try.
I have for now decided to only keep the XP-900 (3 colors) instead of the XP-960 (5 colors). Alas, the ARC chip cartridges i bought for 960 did reset after ca 5.5 ml == normal size, not...
So..
The ribs are only there to hold the pad but not to help the printhead in any other way with overprinting.
The pads do only suck up the overprint ink and that ink will then dry inside those pads - but not getting drained into the waste ink.
Yada yada yada:
If i where to use a printer...
Thanks Mikling, very interesting.
I am trying to take what you wrote in this thread together with what you wrote elsewhere (and what i've been able to see myself): humunguous amounts of ink-waste on eg: XP printer through all those cleaning cycles.
If i add these two things up, i start to...
Thanks a lot, ISF
Wrt to the borderless print sponge: I think i understand what part it is in my XP printers, but it does not look as if there is any drainage for it. Is there any drainage on the WF-2010W or is the overprint just meant to dry away ?
I also wonder if the plastic humps are...
Maybe wrong forum now, but i have an unopened Pro 100 which has a removable head. Could i not potentially make that one survive longer without printing by removing cartridges and wrapping the print head into some airtight packaging, dry or wet (eg: windex clear) ?
My old HP Photosmart c7180 has...
Thanks. Yes, i was thinking of your WF-21010W article. So pigment ink should be feasible in both models and ET14000 might be a better CISS being 2nd gen.
Are there any tricks to keep such a printer with pigment ink alive when not printing for longer time (months) ?
Some Epson printers do, some do not support borderless print. I was told that this is not purely a difference in the driver, but that printers supporting borderless print also have mechanical elements: some form of sponge? that would suck up the print that the head sprays outside of the paper...
Have never seen such auto-reset-inline cartridges. Do you have a URL ? I also don't know how the 1400 cartridges in general look like, but with XP cartridges, my experience has been that the likelyhood to get air into the system depends on how much ink the printer is pulling in. For example, i...

And i bet it tastes good when fresh. And worse than soggy pizza next day.
A one week old XP-820 failed on me and the epson authorized repair shop said they can not repair/not worth it, Epson would send a replacement while in-warranty.
Outside warranty, find a tinkerer or become one yourself. You already started with cleaning under the head. May need to buy a service...

The EU rule i pointed to is only against discrimination against customers based on where they are from:
If you walked into a McDonalds somewhere in Europe, would you like not to be served because you are from Ireland ?
If you use franchise in the way i understand it, i think that is illegal. See eg:

This is AFAIK why nowadays companies like alza.de can freely sell printers like L800/L1800 in Germany even though i bet Epson Germany does not want it and...
So how do you get around language problems ? I for once don't speak french so i have a hard time finding shops that carry what i am looking for, and once i found one, it does not send to Germany (non-computer stuff was my last attempt).
Are there forwarding services like the ones we discussed...
