MX892 - White, tapering bands in black areas

Success!!:weee Finally, success.....after one failure. I took the printer apart enough to get to the hoses leading to and from the pump and flushed them out with Windex using a syringe. Afraid to go take more apart to access the pump, I reassembled and tested. No joy. :he Same as before...

MX892 - White, tapering bands in black areas

Found the problem. The purge tubes for the PGBK were totally clogged. The ink was like Jello. You can see that it just piled up in the waste area before the stoppage was complete. Hardly touched the pad. The large discharge tube was total gunk. I'll give a shot at cleaning the system, but I have...

MX892 - White, tapering bands in black areas

Started the soak. Print head's sitting on some paper towels in a pan with a enough Windex to cover the paper towels. Put a bit of Windex to pool on the inlets. Got a couple of shots of the nozzles and purge pads. The excessive ink around the PGBK nozzles looked suspicious.

MX892 - White, tapering bands in black areas

Thanks for the great color chart, Hat. Here's the print, printed about 24 hours after last night's printing with the new cartridges. Stratman, I'll start with suggestions tomorrow, unless this latest print reveals something new. I feel confident the printer can be revived. (Just blind faith)...

MX892 - White, tapering bands in black areas

Still no joy. First tried a new BK OEM cartridge, and got the same results. Next put in a new PGBK OEM cartridge, leaving the new BK in also. Printed on plain paper, standard quality. I'd thought that maybe the Hobbicolors old ink might have been a problem since I've had it for a year and...

MX892 - White, tapering bands in black areas

Wow! Thanks for the great reply. Here's a better quality pic of the latest nozzle check. And I had a feeling there was one more bit of info I forgot to add. Before the tests I replaced the PGBK and BK cartridges with others I'd refilled. OEM refills, same Hobbicolors inks. I'll get a new OEM...

White, tapering bands in black areas Problem started about a month ago Canon MX892 Owned about 2 years Moderate home use Refilling OEM cartridges with Hobbicolors ink. Top fill. Problem is only in the black areas. It improves when I print in highest quality, but doesn't go away. If I print a...

    Best Filled Non-OEM Cartridges for Canon ip4000 & i860?

I've been looking for filled, non-OEM cartridges with good-looking ink, and especially ink that won't clog the printhead. I think some bad ink is what toasted my ip4000's printhead, and now I'm really paranoid about avoiding that problem again. (The printer's working now with another printhead)...

Canon i860 -This Broken Piece Causing Error 5100? (pics)

Bought this i860 on eBay. Seller had a nice dated pic of a test print, so I'm pretty sure the breakage happened in transit. Since the printhead wasn't secured, I think it slammed against and broke this piece near the purge pads. Error 5100 refers to a problem with the printhead carriage...

iP1500, No Black At All, Pretty Sure It's not Printhead or Purge

Nozzle check shows absolutely no black. Tried new cartridge, multiple cleaning cycles, printhead soak, contact pins cleaned, new driver install, etc. I cleaned the purge pads and ran a cleaning cycle, and the black showed up on the pad, so at least some nozzles are clear and the purge is...
