We are commonly told to reset before 15% with many suggesting not to let it get under 30% for peace of mind. My understanding is that the printer flags the cartridge as used and writes the value somewhere on the chip after it gets too low. Resetting early prevents this.
I have an Epson original...
Thanks. Would you also use the LLK-contaminated LK in the correct cartridge after extraction from the LLK cart? I assume so. I can make it even less of a concern by mixing with the rest of my LK in the 700ml cart that I’m using as a storage reservoir but I’m not sure if the one-way valve can be...
LOL! I love your sense of humor, but you actually can print a 3D photo in some ways. :)
One method uses a traditional printer with interleaved columns of pixels and a lenticular covering that reflects alternate columns to a different eye if you view it from the correct distance. Of course, this...
I bought a complete set of OEM T58 empties with resettable chips for my 3880 but the only OEM ink I have at the moment that isn’t already inside a T58 is a 700ml UltraChrome LK cartridge from one of Epson’s industrial printers. I ended up accidentally putting it into my LLK cart. Oops!
I went...
I’ve been very bad and hadn’t printed anything from my 3880 in over 4 months. It just sat there with OEM ink from early summer to late fall with without even being plugged in.
Last week I finally plugged it in and ran a nozzle check: All clear!
This thing was a thrift store find from over a...
OK, after rewatching 10+ of José Rodriguez’s videos I finally found one where he says that the older style with the self-aligning design (like mine) sometimes has problems with “Light Magenta and a couple of the grays.”

Around the 4 minute mark.
Guess I need a new...
I would not advise simply flushing the PK line since there is a clog in the switching valve and you do not want that to free up and end up stuck somewhere else... like the printhead.
I had the exact same problem and managed to fix it. If I were in your situation again I would buy this...
I thoroughly enjoyed this thread, but this was the biggest revelation for me by far. Everyone told me that the ink switch valve was not available without the expensive ink supply system! I spent WAY too much money. :(
I ended up using my old primed/charged/initialized ink lines and just swapped...
I’m aware that you need to reset these carts before they get too low or else they will not reset, but I’m finding that LK, LLK, and VLM will not reset even when they are near full.
I bought a second set of OEM empties that were already reset and preconfigured for refilling (one-way valve...
More specifically, Epson Stylus Pro 3880 users are buying all your PK, MK, LK, LLK, Y, C, and LC. They have no use for your M and LM, since their machines use VM and VLM instead.
Last night I tried to print pages of full black to purge air out of my Photo Black line after a repair. I got pages of dark gray since it was still using Light Black and Light Light Black. I just made a black canvas in IrfanView and and set it to grayscale/Black & White in what felt like 10...
I’m pretty sure it’s because the K3 and Vivid K3 printers share all the other K3 colors. This makes MK, PK, LK, LLK, C, LC, Y useful to use for both where M and LM are only useful for the older K3 printers. Extracting ink to refill carts makes this gulf wider.
Well, guys, I seem to have cleared the clog/jam just by working it with hot water. Hadn’t even broken out the ammonia yet.

I’ve since flushed with ammonia and 99.9% electronics cleaning grade isopropyl alcohol.
Kinda regret buying the replacement now but at...
On my printer it is due to a faulty black ink switch valve (switches between MK and PK). I don't know what would cause something similar in a printer without a black ink switch valve but I figured there were enough similarities to point it out in case it could lead to the cause of your problem...
This kept happening to me on a different Epson printer (Pro 3880) shortly after replacing PK and switching to it from MK. PK was dribbling out, leaving air in the head. That also explains why my old PK cart was completely empty when the printer thought I still had nearly 70% remaining. Any way...
Definitely let us know how it goes! I don't see where anyone mentioned the hose diameter or specific syringe for doing this so those details might be good for reference (assuming you can find them). Here is someone else who has done something similar...
It did get damaged when trying to clear the first clog but we trimmed it back. worried that we damaged it by reinstalling improperly, we trimmed it back again and it has been perfect ever since.
Yes. When we cleared our first clog we didn't fully reinsert it, which caused this exact issue. We...
Right: definitely NOT the print head! The print head is fine (every nozzle firing). The problem is in the "Ink Delivery System," which is the part that costs $176.20. More specifically, I'll be dunking the ink switching mechanism ("Ink Change System").

Thanks! Yeah, I wasn't planning to simply exercise it: planned to treat it like a gummed up carburetor by putting it into an ultrasonic parts cleaner with appropriate cleaning fluid (dilute Pharmacist's Solution?). I've needed to buy an ultrasonic cleaning machine for my electronics work anyway...
I got the new Maintenance and T5804 Y cartridges today. Installing the Maint tank finally allowed me to open the door and check the rest. I weighed PK and MK and found that T5081 PK was completely empty (60 grams) despite reading nearly 70%. After replacing it, and switching back to PK, I soon...
