Looking for an Inkjet for low prodution brochures (11 x 17) edge to edge

The R3000 would be better than the 1400 in reproducing black and white photos, due to its inkset which contains extra shades of grey in addition to the colours. Apart from that, the 1400 still makes for one of the best photo printers. In fact, for anything except black and white prints, the 1400...

Looking for an Inkjet for low prodution brochures (11 x 17) edge to edge

The R3000, R2880, R2000, 3880, all use pigment inks, which are aimed at improved longevity, something not important for brochure printing. A dye printer (1400, 1500w), can produce the same or larger gamut, and better D-Max (blackness) with fewer colours. As for the resolution difference, this...

    micro banding

The bi-directional printing will probably be like "bi-d enabled" or "high-speed printing" or something similar.

    micro banding

I am not using Canon printers myself, but whenever this happens with my Epsons it almost always requires a head alignment to resolve. Try disabling bi-directional printing and see if that helps. If the situation improves (or goes away completely), then it's simply a head misalignment. The Epson...

Looking for an Inkjet for low prodution brochures (11 x 17) edge to edge

An Epson 1400 or the newer 1500w would be ideal, and you could probably get one for around $300 or less. They can both print edge to edge up to A3+ and they use 6-colour dye inks which produce very glossy and vibrant prints.

Collective group buying: Inktec Powerchrome K3 high-glossy pigment ink

I can still send you 100ml bottles of the ink if you like. I paid 665eur for my last order (13 Liters of ink), so it should work out to ~40eur per 800ml, plus ~10eur for the bottles plus the cost of the shipping method of your choice.

Does Precision Colors sell in Europe?

You should give Inktec inks a try, way better glossiness than IS, almost similar gamut to the OEM and much better adherence/scratch resistance than anything else I tried, at a price even lower than the IS.

Flash cards die one after another

I've had at least one bad experience with every memory card I had that wasn't either SanDisk or Lexar (Hama, A-data, Apacer, even Kingston). I'd suggest you stick with these two, they more than worth the extra money, especially if you are using them for important projects...

Epson 4900 extreme clogging, and a solution

I've been using an Epson 4900 with refillable carts for a few months now, and had no significant clogging issues, apart from the occasional missing nozzle that cleared instantly after running a simple clean cycle. A few days ago though, in the middle of a long print run, one of the colours (the...

Inktec vs OCP vs Epson vs NanoDigital pigment inks

There is bronzing, but do notice how much glossier the Inktec is. Especially on the paper you are using, Image Specialists pretty much turns it to matte. And Ilford pearl is known for not behaving really well in terms of bronzing with most inks. Try something with a deeper luster finish, like...

    What's causing this?

The problem was resolved after running a Bi-D adjustment using the service program, so tubing wasn't causing this. I'm not sure how I could flip the tubes 180 degrees though, as they come from the right of the printer and reach the carriage from its left side. Turning them the other way round...

    Ink-set for Epson R2000 - recommendations

They don't make ink for the r1900 (you could get the black, cyan, magenta and yellow from their K3 inkset but you'd also need red and orange and glop).

Epson 1400 with CISS: prints out black smudge

Maybe you placed the bottles too high, causing ink to overflow, try lowering them and see if that helps.

    Finding The Right Printer?

If you will be mainly printing news letters, and hence not concerned about the longevity or fade resistance of the prints, your best option would be an Epson 1500w with refillable carts or a CISS system and dye ink. It can print up to the size you require, and the use of dye inks should result...

    R3000 chip resetting question

I'm looking to get an R3000 and a good CISS or refillable cartridge set to go with it, and I was hoping one of the R3000 users here could help clarify something: Does the R3000 go through a mini priming cycle every time a cartridge's ink level is reset (like the R2000 and other models with...

    Ink-set for Epson R2000 - recommendations

I don't know where you live, so can't really advise on where to buy paper. I run a print shop and go through a lot of paper every month, so I am forced to buy locally. Epson Premium Luster/Glossy and HP Premium Satin are the two best branded papers, at a relatively low price. Permajet also...

best way to print on long discontinued Ilford paper?

View it side by side to other glossy papers for which you have profiles, and pick the one that most closely resembles it in surface colour, and use the profile for that one instead.

    Ink-set for Epson R2000 - recommendations

IS is terrible, glossiness-wise, I agree, but OCP is more than acceptable on luster media, and Inktec is as good as the OEM on glossy media. What you suggest with those ebay carts is ideal, but it would depend on the volume of printing you do. For a heavy user such as me (going through ten or so...

    Ink-set for Epson R2000 - recommendations

I have pretty much tried all the options on the market for the R2000, so I may be able to help. For the last couple of years I've been using the OCP inkset for the R2000, but I replaced the Photo Black and Magenta with the K3 Photo Black and the K3 Vivid Magenta, respectively (to improve on the...
