Here in The Netherlands some charity programs collect empty cartridges that they can sell to raise funds. Some time ago when I wanted CLI-521 cartridges to replace my opaque CLI-526 cartridges, I contacted one of them and asked how much they got per cartridge. 50 cents. I offered them 1 euro and...
Hi everybody, here's my update. Sorry it took some time, but I was out on a skiing holiday.
Crenedecotret was so kind to create the following profiles for me, based on test prints that I have sent him:
Printer: Canon MG6150 (CLI-526, PGI-525 cartridges)
Ink: OctoInkjet.
Following profiles...
I use topfilling to refill my cartridges. For purging I use a large 30ml syringe that exactly fits the refill hole. Usually four or five flushes (using force) are sufficient. I use the paper towel method to dry the cartridge.
Here's an update.
Yesterday I spend some time finding the correct media settings for my printer, paper and ink. I used the instructions from Northlight that crenedecotret pointed me to.
As I have both a Canon printer and paper, the suggested media settings that come with the paper are indeed...
I have the following setup:
- Canon MG6150
- Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy II and Canon Photo Paper Plus semi-gloss
- Octinkjet inks
I want to have some custom printer profiles made and I came across this site: http://www.customprinterprofiles.com/
Is there anyone here who used their services...
Printhead problems will not always be caused by the printhead itself, especially with refilled cartridges. When refilling is not done properly and for example an airvent is blocked, ink starvation may cause damage to the printhead. When I loose one color completely, I always check the cartridge...
I use the top fill method. To create the fill hole I removed the refill ball. For purging, I use a 60 ml syringe (no needle) that exactly fits the refill hole. I takes about 5 or 6 flushes to purge the cartridge. I use lukewarm tapwater and use force on the syringe to flush water through the...
Joseph, I'm confused. What is the difference between horizontal position and up position. When the cart is in the horizontal position, as it is in the printer, the fill hole is in the up position. isn't it?
But with ARC chips you will not have actual ink levels, as the chips will reset each time the printer is powered on.
It is my experience that after inserting a new cartridge (or a refilled one with a reset chip) the printer will engage in a cleaning cycle. I have no experience with ARC chips...
With the German Refill Method, I had problems getting the needle into the ink chamber. Sometimes had to try several times and I think this may have damaged the sponge. I have reverted to the top fill method.

Yes, that's how I work. I select 'print with preview' from the file menu (I have photoshop CS2) and then there are the following icc profiles. I only use Canon paper, in parenthesis after the profile name the photopaper I use the profile for):
- Canon MG6100 series Fine Art...
A couple of questions:
- What type of printer do you have?
- Do we understand correctly that your Black is Canon and the YCM are a brand called KMP?
- If there's no problem with the ink, then it could be the CD's? Did you change from brand or something?
Maybe offtopic...
Before I started refilling, I used to replace only the cartridge with the low/empty ink level. After replacing a cartridge, the printer will perform a cleaning cycle. It has happened to me with my good old IP4300 that after the cleaning cycle incurred by a new cartridge ...
