According to this site it should be possible to ignore the warning.

Hmmm, I have a 4110dw and I've never had the low in warning. Can't find anything about overriding in the manual either.
You can continue printing B&W when the color carts run out, though.

I bought my Brother printers second hand, like you did. I have a 4110 and 4510 and these have other chips than xx20 models. The 4110 has the initial carts and I can reset these. I can't imagine that the initial carts have chips that cannot be reset, because if I were Brother I would install...
DCP-J4110DW and MFC-J4510DW. Both have wifi and duplex and print in landscape (printhead goes over the long edge of the paper). Can also print single sheets of A3 by manual feed. The 4510DW also has an ADF for 25 pages and a fax (which I don't use). Successors are 4120, 4620, ..
I refill with a...
I switched from Canon to Brother for the very same magenta reasons. Brother has some pretty good printers. All are YMC/B, so photo printing quality is less than Canon, but I find it acceptable for home use.
I switched from Canon to Brother multifunctionals some time ago and I'm pretty satisfied with them. Easy to refill, they start up pretty fast, no clogging and no endless cleaning cycles. Good for everyday printing, photo quality is less than Canon (only YMC and Black ink) but I find it...
I have Brother printers and use the vacuum refill method.
I bought this tool: http://www.octopus-office.de/en/shop/details/c/tools-equipment-for-ink-refill/p/broluer-refill-adapter-fuer-brother-patronen/
It works pretty well and you don't have to modify the cartridges. You need to apply a bit...
The PFI-101M is also pigment ink :-(
Probably the P in PFI stands for Pigment?
I cannot find 130 ml carts with dye ink on this website.
Is there no sponge in these cartridges? A sponge would prevent to suck out all the ink.
Hat, I believe that cart won't fit in the MG6150. It uses CLI-526 cartridges.
Or do you mean to buy the PFI-106M and use the ink to refill the CLI-526?
Well, my Brother printers work perfectly well with ink from octopus-office.de so there's no need to change that :-)
With the Canons I almost spend more time unclogging printheads and flushing cartridges (magenta). So I need to find a solution there or otherwise let the Canons go...
Thank you all for your replies. A little more background information.
I do have magenta ink for Canon printers. I run two MG6150s that both have problems printing magenta. From the nozzle checks it looks like it starts with ink flow problems and then suddenly magenta disappears completely. When...
Once again, I unclogged the printhead of my MG6150 and flushed the cartridges. I'm considering trying magenta ink from my Brother printers this time. Is it safe to do or would it result in serious trouble?
The only thing that puzzles me is that the printer is unable to tell the ink levels of the color cartridge (and it prints no colors at all). It shows a question mark on the display which, according to the manual, means it is a not a genuine HP-cartridge. But it definitely has an HP label on it...
Hmm, I wonder how much time and money I should invest in this printer. It looks pretty worn and messy on the inside. I made some pictures of it. The third one shows some goo I removed from the black purgepad. The black purgepad is pretty worn, you can see through it.
Would it be a good idea to...
Someone gave me an HP Photosmart 2575 printer with the colors not working. I made a testprint and there's no color at all (see picture).
I checked the printer and it seems that the printhead is built into the cartridge?? (I never owned an HP, only Canon and Brother and these have the printhead...
