So far I've not heard about anyone doing refills on them, but from what I've read the chip is there to activate an LED to indicate low ink conditions and not to prevent refilling.
Over the past few years I've experimented with numerous methods of filling and sealing cartridges and I've found that using 10-32 nylon screws provides an excellent seal. O-rings are also used, but not really necessary as the threads provide a 100% seal. With an opening large enough for the...
I recently tested HobbiColors ink against Formulabs ink and some inexpensive generic cartridges from www.inkforsale.com. I've been a long time user of Formulabs ink and wanted to test out HobbicColors since it's received quite a few favorable comments. HobbiColors inks may seem at first glance...
From what I've seen, the 'long stringy snot' is a problem with PC ink regardless of who manufacturers it. I've used Formulabs ink for a very long time. I had a 16oz bottle which took some time to use up and it indeed developed a problem with the stuff. I have a supply of smaller bottles and...
The lever in question is the piece of gray plastic directly to the right of the cyan cartridge. From your comment about taking less than 10 minutes to swap the cartridges I get the impression that you are only using and refilling a single set of tanks. If that's the case, I highly recommend...
Have you checked the option for grayscale printing on the driver? It wouldn't be a good idea to run without ink for each color. The risk of damage is too high. Go back through other topics in this forum for print head cleaning procedures. You also may have an ink flow problem caused by ink...
This is somethings I've also wondered about. One of the reasons I prefer my iP4000 over either the s820 or i950 models which I also have is the fact that it doesn't use either PC or PM ink. I never got prints from either of my 6 color printers that were as good as what I get with my iP4000. They...
Outstanding piece of work. In a few paragraphs you've provided more understandable and relavent information than anything I've seen from Wilhelm or Livick.
I don't know anything about current Lexmark printers, but I had a Lexmark 5700 a long time ago (1999-2000). At that time Lexmark also made printers for Compaq and a few other names I can't remember. The cartridges from the 5700 - 12A1970 and 12A1980 - would not fit (actually were not supposed...
Can you post a picture of the cd? Could you also give us tips on anything to watch out for when making the tray? I'm looking forward to making one of these.
Rob,
I just came across something to use a a seperator to keep the drips from getting on the other tanks. We had discussed using a clip similar to the acrylic clips that come with the ArrowJet tanks from alotofthings.com. The back side needs to be cut off to accomodate other brands of tanks...
You could have a couple of problems. If the new tanks that came with the iP4000 were used, it could be a case of inadequate ink flow from one of the cartridges. Clogged air vent??? You may have a leaking tank which is putting too much ink into the printhead which will mimic an inadequate ink...
I can only answer how it is done with a Windows system. On the page setup tab of the printer driver, check the box for borderless printing. I have assume (not a good thing) that the Mac is similar in operation.
www.Alotofthings.com has Formulabs ink. The surest way to find out which magenta they are now shipping would be to email or call them. I've dealt with them for a long time and they are very easy to deal with. Hobbicolors.com doesn't carry Formulabs, but they are getting some very positive...
Don't forget that there are two distinct types of photo paper for inkjets. Microporous and swellable polymer. Microporous, a.ka. instant dry does not have a problem with ink smearing. The paper can be held under running water without damage to the image. Swellable polymer, like HP & Kodak, has...
In this case the original poster already replied that the problem was actually a defective photo cyan cartridge. A defective cartridge can make it appear as if the print head is blocked. The device you described can easily be made by using a short piece of vinyl tubing. One end needs to fit...
