Let me reply to Stratman first.
1. Yes the entire printer, printhead & carts were still sealed in the original packaging from Canon, unoprned.
2. Everything new wherever he bought it from in December. No way to know how long the vendor had it.
3. They were stored in his apartment.
4.No the...
Wow! Lots of replies! I would have gone back to Canon already but I bought this new in the box from an individual who got it with his camera as part of a rebate. I didn't realize till later that I could have gotten the same deal with rebate directly from Canon & have the warranty too. Live &...
I just saw The Hat's comments. Up until this Pro100 I've always had filled carts ready to go & just switched them. I don't have spare ones for the Pro100 but I haven't refilled them much either. I planned to "refill while you wait" with the head slot empty for the minute or two it takes. My...
Well, both the magenta carts in the printer are new Canon OEM. I would have to have two defective carts from Canon. All of my refilled carts were flushed & conditioned before they were filled with new fresh PC ink. My earlier problems with the other printers could have been due to running carts...
Hi again.
The magenta & photo magenta carts carts in the printer now, when these tests were done, are Canon oem carts-not rerfils. I tried them as kind of a last resort when my refil carts (top fill) were doing the same thing. All of my carts were flushed & conditioned as per the above...
Okay I soaked the head for 24 hrs. Didn't help & might be worse. The patterns below are the result. I tried one with each of the drivers. The color patters in the earlier post were with the XPS. Does anybody thin it could be a firmware problem?
Okay here's the test image, printed through PS CS5. I went ahead & put the chips back on the CLI 42 Magenta & Photo Magenta carts. Didn't seem to matter. The nozzle check was after the test image was printed.
Thanks for the quick reply. Turboguy's question first. I never installed the original carts. I knew about the "yellow jello" problem with the yellow & learned about the new magenta coming out so I still have them with no chips on them of course. To The Hat's reply I know this has to be a cart...
Hello All,
I'm making one more attempt to get a Canon printer going with refilled carts before I give up. I've been printing on Canon printers with PC inks for about 5 years & have been through all of the magenta inkflow problems that this forum & Mr. Mikling have wrestled with. Last winter I...
okay, it's fixed. I found a little remnant from the paper jam I had a couple of months back. Since I hadn't printed from the manual rear tray all that time it didn't cause any problems. But when I started poking around it interfered with the sheet tray too.
Thanks to all for the support.
The message on the lcd keeps changing. At one point after a complete reboot I had "ready" as in ready to print. But it wouldn't do anything at all. Now I have the "load paper" message back. I'll try reloading the driver.
Okay the plot is thickening. First the above questions. Tes the manual rear was selected. I did not see that on the lcd though. You don't usually get a message about the feed tray on the lcd. But as I was putting paper in the manual rear tray it decided that there was a paper jam & i got that...
Okay I tried that. No help. The printer does work fine from the sheet feeder. I'm thinking I could have damaged something when I cleared a paper jam a few months ago. Does anyone know how the printer detects the paper? Is it a mechanical switch or an optical one?
Pkk
Hello All & thanks in advance for the help.
My Pro 3800 has suddenly stopped feeding from the manual rear tray. The message is " Paper out or not loaded correctly." There is no mechanical movement of the rollers before this appears. I did have a paper jam in there a few months ago but I...
Here's the nozzle check I'm getting from the old printhead. It looks similar to the one posted above but the actual printout doesn't have that much cyan in the magenta stripe. The magenta looks kind of muddy on the actual printout. Note the black is not printing at all. This is new. This all...
