I saw that! I think it's fun that he bought one and did a video.
It's silly, but I bet if you showed that to a 3D printing hobbyist 10 years ago, it would blow their mind! LOL!
I'm loving how accessible 3D printing has become.
An entrepreneur friend of mine recently got a Bambu Labs printer...
Yup, I have similar thoughts.
My frustration continues to be with regard to the binary nature of a lot of the warnings out there. It seems like something is either "good" or "bad".
I know smoking is bad.
I know x-rays are bad.
I know breathing the air in many cities in India and China (and...
It's a great printer at that price!
I saw the Ender 3 V3 KE on sale for $250 the other day and was tempted... but then I asked myself: "Why? You're happy with the SE, and haven't needed it to do anything it hasn't be able to do."
The whole kit is about 1/2 of what I'd pay for a new printer that is about equally as good, so I doubt I'd go that direction.
That said, your overall concept is solid... so I've ordered a $30 kit of both rollers and will give the repair a try. If it doesn't work, the I'll donate or scrap the...
This little gem has been acting up :(
Started with some minor, then significant ghosting, and also some light wrinkles on the page.
I used ChatGPT to do some troubleshooting and turns out it suggested an issue with the fuser roller / assembly.
I opened up the back of the printer and noticed...
A few things I'm finding in my research:
Many of the new printer's carts are chipped, but some aftermarket carts come with chips
Some of the carts are a NIGHTMARE to refill... like taking the whole cart apart. Few are as easy as before (open cap, dump old toner, refill new toner, cap back in...
Ah, gotcha.
Ya, if the carts aren't super hard to refill, and I'm willing to refill black, then also refilling the other ones shouldn't be that much more of a hassle. Example: I don't remember refilling multi-color ink carts much more difficult than just refilling single-color back in the day.
I'm looking to consolidate all my (and my GF's) various inkjet and laser printers into one big workhorse!
So, I'm beginning my search for a good-quality multi-function color laser printer (flatbed/feeder scanner, copier, printer) that has toner cartridges that are the easiest to refill.

Very interesting. Some of those "dust" particles look pretty big. I have a bit of skepticism, but I'm hoping it would be really easy to duplicate his test / results by anyone with a 3D printer and UV light.
*IF* it's easy to find those particles throughout the house as he shows, then that does...
I remember distinctly 5 years ago that a good buddy (that is very creative and had a 3D printer for years) said: "Once I got my 3D cutter / engraver, I barely ever use my 3D printer."
I still have a hard time believing that, but maybe for some types of creators it could be as useful and even more?
That's crazy amazing!!!!!
Excellent work!
Did you create the STL or grab it from somewhere?
Your final result SUPER reminds me of when I used to do really basic "glass blowing" (which was me using pliers to squeeze glass I melted with propane torch) ;)
So awesome to see 3D printing getting cheaper and easier to use!
I'm LOVING my Ender 3 V3 SE. Super easy to setup, calibrate, and print... and you can get it for as low as $180! Just incredible!
Wow, great job!!
That's a super professional design! Did you create it or download it?
Too bad you don't live closer, I have a stack of 100 of those I need to get rid of (and that's after purging about 200 others) LOL!
I like to use horizontal expansion / hole expansion settings in the models if they are a little tight. That way the overall dimensions of the model aren't changed.
Interesting!
I watch a LOT of videos where people put these (and other) printers through a lot of stress-tests, and I haven't seen this as one of the things / issues reported.
... but I'd definitely be curious to see more info / details about this as things progress!
A great example of why I love 3D printing! My tenant in my attached ADU rental said the timer knob in the bathroom broke. Only took me about half hour (and $0.20 plastic) to find the model and print it.
LOL! My GF was combing the cat this morning. I told her about your saying, and she replied, "... but I do it so she has fewer hairballs!"
I think she missed the intent of the saying. ;)
