Hi,
I've recently started having print alignment problems with my Canon TS705.
I've tried auto and manual alignment but it doesn't seem to make much of a difference.
I've attached a picture showing how printed lines are not aligned.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, it's driving me nuts.

Thanks

After doing some reading, I'm wondering if it could be the encoder strip? Can't seem to see it on my printer, any help please?

Thanks

If the table is printed in landscape orientation then I think you are right that the problem could be caused by a dirty timing strip. On some newer Canon printers this strip is hidden behind a protective shield. Sadly I don't know how to remove this shield, but maybe this post has some useful info? See images #5 and #6 and the YouTube video. Notice the removal of the shield at 3:37. You do not need to almost split the printer into atoms like in the video.

I hope this helps.

Hi,
It was printed in landscape yes.
I've taken a picture of the inside of the printer, I'm not sure where this strip might be?
Thanks

I think the shield is the part from which the flat foil cables for the print head come out. I have added an arrow to your photo showing the shield, click to enlarge:

Ah! It would be wouldn't it!
I'm not sure how easy that might be to remove without damaging anything.

I've done a print head check. Don't know if it helps narrow down the problem?
Is there anything else I can do to be sure what the problem is?

Thanks again

The nozzle check looks perfect to me, so I think the timing strip is the cause of the problem.

I have got a TS6150 which uses the same timing strip shield.

First turn on the printer and open the lid as if you would change a cartridge. Now pull the power cord without first turning the printer off. You can now slide the printhead carriage from side to side.

By lifting a tab and pushing the shield to the left the shield can be lifted away from the strip. Be careful not to tear the ribbon cables and the timing strip. The timing strip can be cleaned with a soft tissue paper or a Q-tip wetted with a window cleaner with ammonia.

Here is the tab, click to enlarge:

And here is access to the timing strip for cleaning, click to enlarge:

Good luck with the cleaning and be careful not to break the shield or tear the flat foil cables.

Edit: The shield should be pushed to the right to remove it. See post #26.

Thanks @PeterBJ
Can you see where the release tab is in relation to my picture?
I'll give it a go at some point if I'm feeling brave lol.

Thanks

I cannot see the release tab in your photo, but here is a better photo from my TS6150,seen more from the top. I think the shields are similar, but I don't know as I have never seen a TS705.
