I saw on druckerchannel.de Canon forum that WicReset now can reset the absorber counters on Canon G model printers. See the post by Ede-Lingen.
I didn't believe this as WicReset is known as an Epson reset program, but see the WicReset website.
The WicReset only works with Canon G model printers if the printer is able to enter service mode. If the service mode has been locked due to the use of an old service tool, then WicReset cannot reset the printer. See this for more info.
It looks like the WicReset can replace the Canon service tool V5103 at least for the G model printers. I wonder if support for more Canon printer models will be added?
