Ive posted something similar but I just want to know what brand has the best non oem ink that works. All I want is a printer that prints with cheap ink. Thanks for any ideas.

Thanks for the advice so far. I would also love to know what cheap printers you guys have had success with.

Thanks again everyone. I really like this printer PIXMA iP3500 because you can refill cheap and good quality printing. But I just realize I have a problem I also need one that is a scanner copyer any ideas.

Just be careful with ink that is too cheap. Check this forum for the reputation of the specific brand of ink you plan to use before you buy. Poor quality ink may proof to be troubles after troubles. Not worth a little saving to go too cheap. But I agree. Refilling with non OEM ink is for the reason of being cheap. Just check the reputation of an ink before buying.

I use TrueColor ink from www.alotofthings.com in my Canon MP-600 with great success. I figure it costs me around $.50 to refill a cartridge. You can't really complain about that and it's good ink. I pay $4.75 for 2oz of ink and get about 9 fills per bottle.

Canon has some printers that use PG40 and CL41 ink cartridges. I often saw them selling dirt cheap. I have seen those printers. They look cheap too. But that does not mean they don't print as well as expensive ones. They are just a little slower. If I just need a cheap printer those will be excellent ones to choose from. A friend's kid got one a few years ago free from purchasing a computer. I was surprised that he is till using it happily when I saw it last week.

Cheap ink is everywhere. But you probably will have a hard time to find the right one that will work. I have been using UW8 ink that many people use and like on this forum. It costs almost half of the ink billkunert bought. It is the cheap ink I will recommend. I have used it for years and love it.

CL-41 is a tri-color cart.
If you are not refilling yourself and doing anything but very low volume, I would stay away from it.
Reason being is that if one of the colors is out, you have to replace the entire cart.

PG-40/CL-41 printers by design have their place with low volume printing.

For an inexpensive printer with the ability for more volume and the option of easy home refilling I would recommend Canon iP3500.
It uses individual tanks for the 4 colors it uses. You just replace/refill that color cart. which is low.
I still use an iP3000 which is an earlier version of iP3500 and it's still great.

Great topic. I have done loads of research and after experiening the dreaded Epsom blockages and HPs carts that give up the ghost after 2 or 3 refillings I have settled on the Canon Pixma ip3500. I do about 20 pics a week and about 30 A4 pages of text so it is well able to cope with that sort of low volume It is now on order through Amazon at 47 in UK with free postage. Also on order is the Canon chip resetter and some 3" needles for the German refill method. Provided I print a colour pic every couple of days to keep the ink flowing and do regular print head cleaning I see no reason to expect good service from this machine for a few years. Good bulk ink also seems to be the order of the day. All reports and tests on this printer indicate it to be a cracker for the price and far better that many that are much more expensive. Any other tips would of course be gratefully received.
Good luck to anyone else contemplating this.
Doug.

The predecessor of ip3500 is ip3000. These printers are work horses for printing color documents. If you use or refill OEM ink cartridges these printers will go a very long way. If you want to print photos then ip4500 is the one to get instead. Ip4500 is also a faster printer. It is a little more expensive but what you get is a high quality work horse. Ip3500 is a high quality printer too. But ip4500 will print better photos.
