I have purchased a Canon MX850 with the purpose of installing a CISS (continuous ink supply system) Unfortunately canon does not want to help me, because I did not use their original cartridges. This is why I call your help, guys.
The yellow is printing strange corners. Is my printhead broken? I have tried a fluid bought on ebay (print head unclogger) Strange is that after using this fluid I can print half a page of yellow without this problem.

I have to admit that I have touched the printheads with paper soaked in fluid.
Should I buy a new printhead or should I try something else? Did anyone ever see the same problem?
Thanks,

This is not a printhead issue this is an ink flow issue. You've got to find out why it is not flowing. Unfortunately With canon's it is difficult to install ciss systems and get them to work properly. You may have an air leak in the seals between the printhead and cartridge, an air bubble in the lines, or another problem. I would re-prime your entire ciss and see if it solves the problem but don't under any circumstances continue printing with that problem or you'll damage the printhead.

My god, is this supposed to be a hidden spam attempt: colorfastink, coupon code ??? Why is this message on the test print and not only the YELLOW ??? Are we now brainwashed in a subtile manner ?

Hello,
Thanks for your reply. I will investigate the issue.
(I googled "printer test page color" and this was the first image result - there is no hidden advertising) Sorry.
I will let you know what I found.
Kind regards

I found air near the end of the tube, just before the yellow ink tank. I have sealed the construction around the top of the ink tank off with silicone. Unfortunately there was no improvement. I decided to again clean the printhead. I saw that it was very difficult to push the unclog liquid through the yellow part of the printhead as compared to the other colors. I fear that I will have to buy both new : printhead and CISS. It is a pitty because I only use my printer and CISS since august. I think I will try to buy a new CISS first and if that does not help, I will buy a new printhead, or should I buy the other way around ?

I think you should give up on the CISS since canon doesn't usually go too well with those systems. Just get a couple sets of carts and some needle bottles and swap and refill them when they're low. Even with moderately high printing it's not too much inconvenience, especially considering how much trouble a CISS system can be with with canons.

Agreed. It is the CIS that is faulty. Ink is leaking out of your CIS ink cartridges. Your print head is likely to be OK.

Have you tried it with cartridges to see if that clears up the problem? If it does, you know the problem is not in the print head.

Can you explain exactly why Canons don't like CIS? I had good luck so far with one and thinking of switching over another but not if there's good reason to avoid doing so.
