I picked up a used Samsung CLP-680. Mechanically the thing works very well and the usage stats are fairly low, suggesting there's quite a bit of life left in the expensive-to-replace bits. Monochrome output is excellent. I'm quite pleased.
My issue is with color output. Take a peek at the images below, typical of every print. I presume some schputz on the roller in the magenta and cyan carts causes the yuckiness. But the result was the same after I wiped the roller with alcohol and a lint free cloth.
The black and yellow carts are Samsung brand, while the magenta and cyan are 3rd-party: True Image and LD Products, respectively; and swapping both carts will likely fix the issue.
Short of buying new carts I figured I'd post here with the prospect that someone knows what might resolve the problem?
