I'm using a Canon S800 printer with only Canon inks (no refills). I've noticed that my recent photos are printing with very bad facial colors (rather bluish - everyone looks sick). Other colors are off too but it's harder to tell unless you have a comparison photo or the actual item to compare to.

I've noticed that the Photo Magenta ink cartridge looks like it's filled with purple ink. It bears no resemblance to magenta or light magenta -- it is decidedly purple. I will check ink cartridges in a printer in the store (if I can find one using similar cartridges), but in the meantime, I thought I'd ask this forum. Does the Photo Magenta (BCI-6PM) ink supposed to look purple? Did I get a bad cartridge? Could it have changed with age? (Not sure how old it is, probably quite a few months).

Thanks.

Like Grandad35 gave you alink I think you have cross AND contamination. Either in the printhead or in ink pickup.

Cross-contamination seems to be a likely possibility. I bought a new photo magenta cartridge and the ink is definitely pink (especially when you look at a thin film of it on the inside of the cartridge). Facial tones are now much better.

I read all the related posts but didn't see a tutorial, if you will, on the steps to take to recover from and prevent further cross contamination. Does such a post exist?

Thanks.
