So I'm in an odd situation here. My Mx860 printer in which I refill by using Hobbicolors ink tends to get clogged in the medium and lightest cyan colors(I have attached the before and after for reference). In order to fix this, I must run a cleaning cycle (or deep clean), and it works like it should, only to find myself in square one the very next day. How can I fix this problem?

Before cleaning (It reverts back to this daily...)

Looks like a clogged cart. Have you tried purging it?

Hrm. Well, I would be hesitant to do so because, as I mentioned before, it dark cyan works perfectly, but not the light cyan (...)

The last time someone had your same problem, it turned out to be an ink flow problem with the cartridge, like Grandad35 said. Do you have any more cyan cartridges? The quickest way to resolve if it is an ink flow problem is to just buy a new Canon OEM cartridge and see if that solves the problem.

Do you refill Canon OEM cartridges or compatibles?

Hrm... well like I've said, it appears that the darkest shade of cyan worked, but not so much the lighter shades, leading me to believe it might be the printhead rather than the cartridge. Unfortunately, I don't have any more cyan cartridges, and I refill using the OEM cartridges.

You don't have clogged nozzles, you have an ink flow problem, the only question is whether it is inside the print head or outside and the logical way to resolve this is to buy a new cartridge.

What kind of ink do you refill with?

Where are you located?

Did someone noticed the small nozzle banks for the CMYK dye colours ? The MX860 uses an inferior printhead compared to the older MX850 (same as: IP4500, IP5300) and uses smaller and more expensive cartridges. So the printing is slower than the older MX850.

I had the exact same problem with the lighter Cyan nozzles on my ip4700 which hasvthe same printhead as your mx860... I tried a different ink batch, purging the cartridge, using a cleaning cartridge, etc. But none of those things fixed my problem.

I'm not exactly sure what happened to the original cartridge but a new cartridge fixed the problem. The other cartridge appeared to be fine but now I'm certain it was the cartridge.
