Refilling cli281and pgi280 carts

I'm aware that pgi280 and cli281 can be refilled. However, the instructions I've seen say that the printers ink counter must be disabled which will void the warranty. Are there any ARC available on the market for these cartridges. Or, should I just bite the bullet and disable the ink counter?

I've been keeping an eye on this... Short version: There's nothing resettable.

REdSETTER are not actively developing a resetter unit. Compatible chips appear to be single use versions for the re-manufacturing market...

... and all the "Refillable" cartridges being advertised on Aliexpress, etc... are all single-use chips that require you to either chip-swap/replace or accept the same void-warranty option. The only benefit is that the carts are transparent but there are not ARC's.

Thanks websnail for the info. About what I expected. I contacted Mike of Precision Colors Ink and he said that he will be offering ink for this printer soon (including Photo Blue). So until then I'll just have to use the Canon ink. Once the printer is used enough to not know any warranty issues, I'll go ahead and start refilling and not worry.

I'm in the middle of making super profiles for the Pro-10 over 60 papers, lots of fine art papers with 5 lighting conditions. There will be nearly a full day of my Ryzen7 crunching the numbers continuously to come, reading the targets themselves will take two days. A monumental task. Printing took a whole two days this weekend. Now these are given for free. What are they worth? This project is at least a year late but it is here.

The Photoblue was completed a while back but so many things on the front burner.

Your chances of that printer making it through its warrantee are slim if you don’t use OEM cart sand ink, and your choices at refilling are also very limited, you’d be better off using aftermarket filled carts, and disposing them when empty.

The other string in the tail with this type of printer is the print heads don’t fare well when used exclusively with compatible inks, a more expensive printer would have given you far better longevity and cheaper refillable options..

Hat my 270/271 printer has over 24,000 pages printed. This is much more than the average purchaser intends to do with this category of printer. That is 5 CASES of paper not reams. Reflling as well. Clearly if you know what you are doing, it can survive refilling.
The aftermarket tanks are more sensitive due to their partially flawed design, however, once you recognize the issue it is liveable. Many people have purchased these printers and want a solution. Certainly not a preferred nor recommended model but some are stuck.
I know you had bad luck with yours but that was a sample of one. I am also a sample of one. Both data points are truths but the reality is between somewhere for the average. It's like the chance of acquiring covid. For some it is zero, for others like a front line worker it is clearly significantly higher. It depends.

Convincing number.

It should suggest these printers do not have a built in lifetime, or that refill inks lack certain additions to maintain/cool the printhead as rumored.

I did not have much luck with those dye printers either, but maybe I did not use them enough.
My son and sister in law printed 3 years (using as many liters of ink and endless refills...) with their 525/526 printers. They suddenly broke down one after another though and I never found the reason.

I completely agree but not many know how to refill and maintain these carts..
