I bought myself a canon pixma ip4700 yesterday. Now i want to be prepared for the ink problem!
What is the best and cheapest way ? Refil the cartridges (lot of work) or the cis system?
Is there a lot of difference in cost?

thnx and greetings

The ip4700 is the new generation out of Canon and is a bit of a bitch to work with CISS. You will need a lot of time and tinkering to get it to work and when you do its worth it. On the other hand refilling the oem cartridges and using a resetter works just as well. You would only need a CISS if you intend to do volume work. Do yourself a favour and get good quality ink from the start, it will prove its self over the life of your printer..

Refilling the cartridges is very fast using the german durchstich refill method. Do not use CISS systems on Canon printers. A lot of forum members will agree with me: sooner or later you will get problems with CISS on Canon printers. There is a resetter for the PGI-520/CLI-521 cartridges available for only 15 in germany.

Good refill inks: Hobbicolors UW-8, Image Specialists (special version for the latest PGI-520/220 and CLI-221/521 cartridges) and OCP. These inks have a reasonably good fade-resistance (not so good as original Canon ink, but far better than most el cheapo refill inks).
