Hi everyone this looks like a real promising forum, glad to see everyone posting there experiences.

I was wondering what recommendations people had to refilling a canon ip6600D inkjet printer that uses canon pixma inks. I purchased one of the sudhuas inket chip resetters but have yet to get some ink :D I would like to use the best quality after ink possible as I use the printer for mixed media (images etc). I have been reading on the forums about inktec inks and was wondering if anyone else had any good comments and possible suggestions were to get them as well.

Thank you all in advance :)

Not sure where you live, but in Europe I buy my inktec ink in germany:

www.tintenalarm.de

All colours including PM en PC are available as well, as your IP6600D uses 6 colours.

Ahhh I should have mentioned that lol...Im in the USA. Thanks for the feedback though. Seems like the inktec ink is the closest to the canon ink from what people have said online.

If you are in the USA, then I would advise you to buy Hobbicolors UW-8 ink. The gamut is better and has a superior fade resistance to Inktec I have experienced. You may like the more vivid colours I am using this ink myself in my Canon IP6600D printer. Actually I made custom printer profiles for this printer using the Hobbicolors UW-8 ink.

pharmacist thanks for the feedback. I was actually trying to stay away from the hobbicolor ink because of what I had read about the overly vivid color. But interesting finding in terms of the color fade. I didn't pick up on that in the forums.

With custom profiles you won't see any differences in printout between genuine Canon and any other good quality refill ink. However: the Hobbicolors UW-8 ink is able to print very saturated colours (especially deep red, green and blue), which is not achieved by the original Canon or Inktec ink. You can test this with any photo editor -able to handle printer profiles- like photoshop and choose for proof setup and enable gamut warning. Area's which can not be printed will be grayed out. Hobbicolors UW-8 ink has the least amount of grayed area, meaning it has a greater gamut. So keep this in mind.

Since these RGB colours are very difficult to achieve, the most professional printers are loaded with dedicated red, green and blue inks to enhance the gamut of the standard cyan, magenta and yellow cartridges (and also light magenta, light cyan, photoblack, matte black, grey and light grey).

Is Inktec ink a bad ink ? Not at all, but blues and red are not as saturated as Hobbicolors UW-8 and I am a bit disappointed by its sensibility to fading.

Hmmm I am not sure why I keep seeing 2 sets of this topic on the forum, lol. After reading what you just posted pharmacist I may give the UW-8 a go from ebay. Curious did you make your own color profile? I work with photoshop but I have never actually gotten into calibrating my printer and scanner outside of what the stock drivers are set to.

I think you accidentally hit the SUBMIT button twice when you first started this thread. Now it has evolved into two different threads with the same topic name.

fcastro,

I did indeed made my custom profiles for my refill inks. However: each type of paper is demanding an individual profile for the specified ink for that individual printer. This is quite labor intensive.
