Recharging chip Redsetter

Is it possible to recharge the battery in the Redsetter ?
I Know the battery does not cost much and I also know their are links on this site to more permanent power supplies for the redsetter but I have a spare 3volt transformer and wondered if anyone else has ever had a go at recharging this battery or other cell type batteries ?
In theory it should work but if the battery fails to hold the charge for any reasonable length of time then it's a pointless exercise.
Just curious.

I don't think these cells are designed to be recharged and if they are not, it would be dangerous to do so.

What theory is it that says it should work? I'm sure it is a pointless exercise.

In theory you can recharge alkaline batteries. It was a fad a few years back when the technology was commercialized, basically a pulse charge technique where the charger charges at high frequency with an 80% on time and 20% rest time. It only works though for partially discharged batteries and only for at most ~25 charges so if it's dead already forget about charging it.

pulse charging is for NiMH

Even though it may be possible, most alkaline batteries are not designed to be recharged, and are intended for only single use. It is not advised to attempt recharging alkaline batteries since they may eventually give way and potentially release potassium hydroxide in a number of forms. The leaking chemicals are hazardous to people, and may corrode the equipment they are used in.

There are posts on using a wall wart as well as AA Alkalines(2 AA alkalines in a battery holder).

I thought that all button cell type batteries were Nicad or lithium that's why I asked the question.
I know the AA type batteries are non chargeable but having said that I do seem to remember a charger on the market that was supposed to be able to recharge these batteries.

Button cells are either alkaline or silver oxide. Most of the more common (cheaper) button cells are alkaline, which is what is probably in your resetter.

Don't try to charge the button battery. Read the button battery number and buy them on eBay 10 for $1.
