Problems with non OEM cartridges with Epson NX510

I just bought a refurbished Epson NX510 directly from Epson for $41 including shipping. I t seems to work fine but it goes through black ink like crazy. I want to buy refillable cartridges but I'm worried that non OEM cartridges will not be recognized. True?

I live in the Caribbean so I don't have an easy way of retuning a system if I buy one in the states.

With the non OEM cartridges you will always get printers that will not accept the cartridge because of the chip. You will just have to take the risk and get one and see if it works.
