Well got my new printhead, but the problem was still there. I Took the chance and disassembled the printer nearly into it's atoms. And low and behold! There were a few bad solderings where the flex-pcb from the printhead carriage meets the "main"-board. Re-soldered them and re-assembled the Whole bastard, and I now have a working printer and 2 printheads! I guess it's always good to have a spare :)
Glad I'm an Electronics Engineer though. A damn lot of parts!

Thank you, Stratman.
And now to my nexT Canon problem. My 5 year old lens (24-105 F4L IS) has failed. When I bought it, it was close to 1900 USD. Repair is 675 USD and a new is 925 USD. Ordered a new one today - will arrive tomorrow. DAMN YOU CANON!!!

To soften the blow, consider how much less expensive the new lens is in today's dollars. :D

What a savings! :hit

Mostly I simply followed the disassembly instructions in the service manual until page 32. Then I had access to the logic board. On that board there are flex-cable connectors the are soldered to the board, and there were the bad solderings. Then the most exiting part: putting it back together Again!

Lars,

Nice repair work sir.

I had my Nikon D800 & 24-70 F2.8 fall and when I opened the camera bag the lens was split in half and the D800 was dead!! Sent it to Nikon repair and after $900 all is good. Haven't taken my Pixma Pro 100 apart yet, but just about everything else!

BTW I am an EE also, design silicon chips.

Cheers,

Mike
