Dear experts,

I just bought an Epson L1300 and plan to use pigment ink on Neenah Opaque 3G transfer paper for my t-shirt printing business.

Well, I have 3 questions :

Do Epson L1300 can be run by pigment ink ?

Do I need to change stuffs in the print itself so it can run with pigment ink ?

Is there any icc profile that I need to set for this printer to print the best quality with the 3G opaque heat transfer paper ?

Your comment is very much appreciated.

Thank you !

Welcome to the forum, FlintI. Hopefully one of the forum's Epson experts will be along soon to help - if not in a turkey coma (Thanksgiving in the USA) or it is already past their bedtime. So hang in there.

Yes, but you might want to read this article about CIS systems and the potential pitfalls of using pigment ink in CIS systems as a primer:
https://www.wasteink.co.uk/service-required/pigment-ink-cis-systems/

That said, I can highly recommend Inktec K3 ink as the best pigment option due to the way it is manufactured. Each pigment particle is coated and ionically charged so that the particles repel each other and don't clump/settle for a VERY long time.

Do I need to change stuffs in the print itself so it can run with pigment ink ?
Yes... You'll need to adjust your colour settings. You could get colour profile(s) created for the ink and your paper(s) to get the best results but it's worth bearing in mind that the transfer bonding process may change the way the colours display and require adjustment anyway. For this reason I would strongly recommend you get a cheap second hard printer with 4 colours, refill that with the same ink and do a lot of testing with your transfer papers, etc.. BEFORE you fill your L1300 with anything.

Is there any icc profile that I need to set for this printer to print the best quality with the 3G opaque heat transfer paper ?
See above...

There are forums specifically for T-shirt printing on the net so I'd also recommend looking for those and discussing your options as they will have a massive amount of experience that is much more valuable than my musings above.

Good luck! :)
