I am trying to figure out if my print head is clogged or bad. It started printing text as shown in the test prints.

I have tried deep cleaning and all it did was make what does show up darker. It prints color fine. The only tip I haven't tried is soaking the heads overnight and I will do that tonight. Based on the way it is printing is the PGBK head dead or really clogged?

Thanks for the help!

This is an electrical problem that cannot be fixed by cleaning or soaking the print head nozzles.

It could be a bad connection on the back of the print head which might be fixed by cleaning the contacts and re-inserting the print head back in the printer.

Chances are you will need a new print head but it could also be a problem in the printer. I would buy a new print head and see if that fixes the problem.

If you don't want to take the risk, you could take the printer to an authorized Canon dealer that would be willing to not charge you if they cannot fix it.
