Hi,

Any body knows translucent ink printers for photo, professional quality?

Such as the Canon Pixma iP4500 that has dye ink but is just 8.5x11 inches.
It seems that Canon and Epson actually just have pigment ink printers.
I do not know if there is some pigment inks that are translucent.
Epson, by phone says they do not have in any product line.

So, where do we find such printers now?

Isn't it weard not having it on the market?

Thanks

In Photoshop or Photoshop express you can dial back the opacity of any layer to appear translucent over another layer.

Yes I got the idea, thanks. But I wish to see the light through the ink itself in order to see the color! Not the light beside.

All Epson Artisans for instance.
And if you don't mind going to a 13" printer, the Epson 1400 or 1410 or the Canon Pro 9000 MKII! All excellent Dye printers.

You seem to be hung up on translucent ink printers but havent looked into more thoroughly.

Nearly all of the inkjet printer manufactures sell the very printer you are looking for,
they are commonly known as inkjet printers.

jtoolman So use a dye printer! Epson or Canon.
Most of the lower end inkjet printers are all dye based as are some of the A3+ professional printers
so there is an awful lot to choose from.

Dye inks are all transparent, i.e. completely see thought on certain paper surfaces and pigment ink are not, i.e. opaque
so its a matter of making the right choice as to which ink will best suit your needs best as is your print size requirements..:)

Please The Hat, be assured that I spent looooots of time on that.

The idea is that I am looking for formats such as 13x19, 17x22", 17xRolls and up
Available models all say Pigment ink. But I know I should not believe what hotline sale reps say becaus many times the do not know their product. Epson says they have nothing for my need!

The thing is that, at the end I need to print test several printers (with the will and time of the salesman that I want to respect, as your time too) so I wish to limit how many models I will test. and up to now, I am still hoping the printer I need simply exists.

I don't get you at all! Why couldn't an Epson 1400 ( 6 color DYE ) or a Canon PRO 9000MKII ( 8 color DYE ) Both up to 13" wide serve your needs again?

As jtoolman already mentioned and I can add another also.

The PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II 13 x 19 will print all dye inks up to 13 x 19
And the Pro iP510 will do 17 sheets and Rolls both from Canon..:)
