I need to buy a cheap (multifunction?) printer to use in my holiday home. Trouble is, the place is not used from October to May and I am worried about the ink drying out.
Does anyone have any ideas/information or, suggestions on which printer to buy?

Thanks for your reply turbguy.

Would it make more sense to buy a laser? Do the toner cartridges dry out or deteriorate at all with non-use?

Sorry if I'm sounding like a novice but I have only had experience with dot matrix and inkjets and I know they are both not really suitable for what I want. One further problem is that I am in UK and my holiday home is in Turkey.

A laser printer is the perfect choice for you as they are almost indestructible
you can ignore them for months on end and they will work first time when needed no problem.

Now if youre flying to Turkey my advice would be to wait and buy your laser printer
when you get there and dont try taking one with you. :hit

But if youre travelling overland then it would then be ok to purchase it before you go ok.. :frow

Yes, that was my intention as I am flying. The Samsung ML1660 is available from a local electrical store for around 60gbp, much the same as in UK. With a 15Kilo hold bag allowance, it's 7.3Kilo weight was a bit too much to cram in, too.

You had forgotten one small thing in your plans, no not the weight but Security.
They probably would not allow you on board with your printer fearing all sorts..
