I'm using a Canon MP830 mainly because it was very nearly the cheapest way to get duplex printing. My primary print job is to simply print out web pages for bathroom/bedroom reading - something I'll be doing until someone perfects a wireless, head-mounted, see-thru display.

The printer considers a web page to be a 'graphic' and doesn't use the cheap black ink even though that would be perfectly acceptable for my needs.

Has this pissed anyone else off to the point that they've developed a work around?

thx

Set your printing preferences to Grayscale/Fast for things that don't matter for color or quality.

Smile,

I interpreted justSteve to print without using color inks. I normally print out air and rental car reservations from websites using grayscale print to avoid color printing. I may be wrong but I believe Fast speed will also use less ink.

I use Scrapbook for Firefox so I can eliminate all the extra crud on the page before sending it to the printer. That way it's just the text that I want.
