please recommend for a new printer

hi, greetings to all. I'm a student from Bangladesh and currently I'm using canon iP 1700 (quite old model) which is refillable. I'd go to canada for higher study soon, so could you guys recommend good all in one printers. I am looking for sth around $100 with flat bed scanner (for scanning books), a large cartridge, easily or atleast refillable with higher number of refills (I'm planning to print books) which doesn't require any chips or hacks or anything, preferrably with separate color cartridges. I don't care for wi-fi's or pictbridge or other mumbo jumbos. just a simple printer that can print cheaply.

The last printer that fit your requirements was made by Canon many years ago. It's the MP780. Fortunately, a lot of people who bought this printer are now finding the excuse of wanting wireless capability sufficient to put their perfectly good printers up for sale. I have recently purchased several of them for around $50 each. I would recommend that you find one on craigslist so that you can see it working, especially that it can do a perfect nozzle check. I do not recommend buying one on eBay where you have to commit to buying it without seeing it working and you don't want to have it shipped unless special precautions are taken.

For such an high volume of printing, I'd try to find a laser printer... much lower cost per page!

thanks everyone for your recs. i don't think there's a color laser AOI printer for $100, i do need the scanner... the university shop selling mp250 for CAD $80, even though the cartridge is small, might go for that.

The cartridge is not just small, it has a three-color cartridge. You're not going to enjoy refilling that.
