I am buying a Pro 9000 MKII and as I am new to the ink refill game I am trying to determine the best compatible inks and carts that can be had in UK.

I am pretty sold on the http://www.octoink.co.uk/ site for the ink and Squeezy bottles, and like to support people who give their time to help in this forum, but wonder if there is a supplier of good quality new empty cartridges with ARC chips?

I saw some nice new ARC carts at inkjetcarts.us but 40$ for shipping and 10 for handling charges by Parcel Force plus possible VAT charges make it prohibitive.

This is an exciting adventure into photo prints for me, and the Pro 9000 with the current rebate and good reviews is my first choice.

You have got yourself a lovely printer and a supplier of good quality inks, now dont go and spoil your enjoyment by getting compatible cartridges.
Refill your existing OEM cartridges + get a resetter for the chips and if necessary get a second set of OEMs to have as spare ready for use.. Simples :)

Thank you Thehat for good advice.

As the Simples ad says "Idid not go through all this research just to get cheap deal on empty cartridges" :)

So all I need is a resetter and a dent in my bank balance for another set of OEMS ;)

Thanks.

I see you are running the Pro 9000 MkII.

i will use a Mac and will be looking for any hints and tips. So far I found some good advice about profiles and paper on dpreview.
Shame the UK only gets the PS version 6.0 with the printer when Canon are giving away the Version 8 in US.

I intend to get the new PS Elements Ver 9.0 anyway as it is a big upgrade from 8

No doubt I will be ducking in and out of here for a long time as soon as I begin to print :)

Hi,
does anybody have experience with Pixma Pro 9000 Refillable Cartridges and Lyson Fotonic XG ink sold by Marrutt (http://www.marrutt.com/canon-pro-9000-ref.php)?

I have just bought Pixma Pro 9000 mkII and now I'm in search of a reliable CIS/refillable cartridges and third-party inks that match ChromaLife100 originals as close as possible.

Regards,
Ross

When you use up the ink in your OEM cartridges buy another set and use them up as well.
Now you have two matching sets of OEM cartridges and they should last you the lifetime of your printer.
My advice is to steer clear from any CISS and just refill your cartridges with good quality inks (just perfect).
Try octoink.co.uk for all your refilling needs, ink, squEasy bottles, resetter etc, assuming youre in the EU as you never mentioned your location.. :|

On this particular question, I'd recommend doing some searching on the forums for experiences with Canon CIS's and particularly with regard to refilling OEM cartridges vs' 3rd party carts.

The short version is:
- avoid CIS systems for Canon printers
- use OEM cartridges (flush as required) for refilling rather than 3rd party refillables.

... but as I said, some research would definitely be invaluable to avoid some of the pitfalls.

Thanks for the advice The Hat, I will stick to OEM cartridges, buy some accessories and get ink from Image Specialists (octoink).

Ross
