I have my Canon Pixma MP140 for about a year now.

When my 1st color ink cartridge (which came with the printer) showed "low ink" I refilled it, but after the 3rd refill I found it printing without the yellow color, though it was full. So I replaced the cartridge with a new one. last March & all went well.

Now it's happening again, I used the new cartridge fine & when it showed the "low ink" I refilled it, after the 3rd refill which was 3 weeks ago, all was going well, but SUDDENLY this morning, the yellow color failed to print, I tried cleaning & deep cleaning but to no avail. The nozzle check pattern prints all great except for the yellow, the capital "Y" shows nothing infront of it, & the small "y" shows very faint yellow line, despite that when I clean the cartridge with a tissue paper, yellow ink shows along with other colors nicely. When I choose HIGH PRIHNT QUIALITY, yellow prints, but faint, otherwise not.
I tried cleaning with a tissue soaked in hot water but still no good

Why the yellow each time ??
I checked the cartridge & it's full.

Can i get it back to work again ?? It's tough to keep buying cartridges evry 6 months or so, besides, I found many people saying they refilled their cartridges dozens of time >>> What did I do wrong ??

Any clues ??
Can You help me please ??

Thanks

You dont say what brand of refill ink you are using. Obviously you have no problem with the Canon ink, but rather with your refills only. Suggest using "Image Specialist" ink, available from Octoinkjet.com in UK or Precisioncolors.com in Canada. Both are forum members and provide us with expert knowledge and will provide you with excellent mailorder service. Regards

You didnt do anything wrong regarding your refilling; the tri cartridges are just not the best cartridge to refill.
Most guys on here do fill their cartridges but they use the single colour cartridges.
You will have to put up with buying new cartridges every third fill, or get a different printer sorry.. :(

Regarding the ink, well actually since this is my 1st experience with refilling I got the 1st refills I faced.

I'm using "Ink-mate" manufactured by www.alphachem.net

I don't know if it's good or not, but the same question arises again ... Why the yellow color stops printing ??? Why when I wipe the cartridge with the tissue paper I get the three colors (C M Y), not just C & M if the yellow nozzle is clogged ?? Why it prints the yellow (faint but printed) when I choose high quality printing ?

As for buying new cartridge every 6 months, this may be a little expensive... not to mention if this is going to be less then 6 months if I use the printer much...

Will it be better if I bought another brand of cartridges but refillable ??

I read somewhere that this may occur if air bubbles clogs the nozzle, & since air is resilient, it gets compressed then expands again preventing ink from coming out. If so, how to clean it ???

Sorry for asking many questions but I really areciate your help.

Thanks a million.

Perhaps you have a bad bottle of YELLOW ink from Aphachem. Maybe it has aged and is too thick to flow properly in Canon nozzles, but still shows on your tissue. Try another bottle from that source or better yet a different brand altogether. It is the consensus here not to intermix brands however. Use the same brand for all colors. I believe another brand of cartridge will only display the same problem. Regards
