PCWorld tries cheap Jumbo Ink refills: too messy to recommend

Mr. Bertolucci tries to refill some HP carts. He creates a mess.

Here is the address:

http://www.pcworld.com/article/227198/cheap_jumbo_ink_refills_too_messy_to_recommend.html#tk.hp_new

Here are my thoughts:

1. HP carts are not easy to refill.

2. Mr. Bertolucci probably needs to refer to a 60 size font instruction sheet when he needs to tie his shoes.

3. Do not follow the manufacturers instructions when you are refilling a cart.

4. Use this forum as a source to refill a cartbig time.

Thank you.

Also keep in mind who provides most of PC World's advertising revenue.

Is it the HP/Epson/Canon Inkjet Cartel OR the small, by comparison, third party inkjet vendors?

Not too difficult to figure the conclusion PC World will arrive at.

Don't you just love journalistic objectivity.

Barfl2 Before I discovered this Forum I started off with a Universal ink refill kit from Tesco Superstore (UK) and I have refilled my HP56/57 carts fine. However you must use the original transit clip and you inject the ink VERy Very slowly. Also the instructions
said only insert the needle 1/4". Obviously if you put a overfilled cart on a bed of rag/paper it will wick the ink anyway. A lot of the problems apart from dodgy ink is poor instructions, however the kit I had was excellent. However these HP carts with the built in printhead cannot be refilled many times unlike the Canon OEM ones. It is a shame that people get caught out by these products and lousy instructions because they are put off and will never again try to refill their Printer carts.

I wonder how you are supposed to guess how much ink to put into those multi-color sponge cartridges.

i have been refilling HP78 cartridges for over 10 years, i regularly get between 10 to 20 refills without problem, and virgin used carts are very cheap on ebay.
i have also been refilling Canon CL-51 carts for some time failure rate is similar to HP but their lack of ink capacity is a major annoyance.
