Hi Guys,

This is off topic I know and I apologize. There just isn't many scanner forums and I need a little help with my Canon scanner and I figured many Canon Printer owners would have a Canon scanner too.

My computer got infected with a browser hi-jack virus (I hope there's a special place in hell for the people who write/release such things upon us!!!). I screwed around a while trying to remove it and then said to heck with it and reloaded Windows. I'm almost reloaded but Canon only has the scanner drivers on their web site, they don't have the OCR software or the ArcSoft photo software. I don't care about the OCR software but I like to use the ArcSoft photo software to edit my scans . . . I just learned to use it and I'm a creature of habit.

Sooo, would anyone have a Canon CanoScan 8400F scanner? If so please drop me a private email!

Thanks soooo much . . . now I'll go refill my ip4200 cartridges to make ammends for my off topic post!

Take Care,

Steve

Hmm, next time try using spyware doctor 6, you can download trial but is does not allowe to remove any spyware until you buy it. Worked every time I needed to remove spyware from infected PC's. Adaware and spybot failed.

SLR_65,

Hopefully you should have email to a link for the missing software you need.

Hi Smile,

Thanks for the recommendation! I tried on my own for a bit but the darn virus would block access to virus help sites and it interefered with anti-virus programs . . . I tried downloading "Hi Jack This" to do a system scan and get some help for one of their forums but it wouldn't let me download it. I downloaded it on another machine and renamed it and then brought it over to the hi jacked machine and gave it a shot but after several attempts it was still acting funky and frankly I didn't trust it any more - even if I got it back behaviing I'd always be wondering if some key logger or something wasn't evesdropping on me while I was logging on to my online back account or something, so for the sake of peace of mind I decided to do a reload.

Like I said, I hope there's a special place in hell for the people who unleash such programs on us!

Thanks again, take care,

Steve

I got several responses to my plea for help and my system is now back up and running perfectly!

THANKS everyone!

And, again, I apologize for the off topic thread - I just didn't know where else a bunch of Canon owners would be hanging out at!

Take care everyone,

Steve
