Help Please,
I have just about had it up to here with Canon printers, Bought a MP560 in the USA where I lived
at the time it returned to the UK with us and I used it until the ink ran out, I have just got over the
ink cartridge problem with the help of various members on THE FORUM.

It now came to downloading the software, as I had a crash since last using the printer I made
sure I had a clean start so I started to download all the software as per I did the first time with the
"Getting started" I finished the complete down load, clicked to print a oicture it come back saying
" A printer supported by this software is not installed" with this I completely re installed again same result
Could some one tell me what I'm doing or not doing, its me I'm sure of that but what is is I just don't know.

What Operating system? What software are you printing from? Can you print text to the printer? Does the printer show up as connected to your system?

I think the answer to your question is in your first post:-
" A printer supported by this software is not installed"
Its not that unusual to down the wrong driver for a printer which I think might have happened here.
My two cents worth..

If thats the case How do I Download the right driver, do I need Driver & Softwear or just driver,
as its an US Machine should I look in the US version or will the UK MP 560 be the same.
I'm afraid I will have to be guided on this as I haven't got a clue

As the MP560 is a US model I would download the drivers and software from the Canon US site: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/suppo...ixma_mp_series/pixma_mp560#DriversAndSoftware

You could also try to connect the printer to the computer via USB, Windows update then offers to install a driver. You could try that. But you only get the printer driver, not the extras, so probably you will not have wireless capability.

I did just that kind of installation with an MP 540 on Windows Vista and 7 computers. I think the MP540 is similar to your MP560 but without wireless capability. Installation took only minutes, and the printer was fully functional, but of course without the software applications. No "Easy Photo Print" etc.

I think that Canon has come to their senses but when I had an MP520 and an MP 640, the only way I could get all the functions of the PC software was to use the install disc that came with the printer and go from there.

Yes Fast Forward you are right as I will explain.
First I must say thank you to "PeterBJ" for his suggesions what I should do
in the first place, I did download the driver from the US
but could not download the extras, the printer was now working
to a degree on a very basic mode.

So I ran Canon in New York got a very helpful guy "Tom" who
explained the printer had not been accepted by the computer because the total
Extras were not downloaded, what we did was download the complete
program from the disk provided with the printer, then we downloaded the new
up dated driver and bingo 12 mins thats all it took, easy when you know how.
So alls well that ends well.
Thank you all once again
