All of them! LOL
Well,,,,
Brand and model of printer would be nice to know. Type of refillable cart? Are they the type that need to be Vaccum filled? If they are where they properly primed to insure ink flow to the exit port?

No one will be able to answer you without knowing these facts.

When you use compatible cartridges you have to expect them to give trouble,
you are after all buying cheap alternative to OEM cartridges (not the real thing).

Compatible cartridges are not as well built or reliable as OEM carts and the more you refill them the more your problems will grow,
compatible carts do work but usually not for too long.

The trouble free route to take is to get OEM cartridges a resetter and good quality inks
then read up on as much information on refilling your particular cartridges as you can
and try out the many new ways there are at refilling.

Refilling is sort of an art so Patience is essential to get it right each time and if you only
achieve 80 or 90% at first you will get better the more practice you get so Happy Refilling..:)

That just happened to me. The printer was set for grayscale. I've been having a lot of trouble with that software.

You can check the cartridges up to a point. Take one out and touch the outlet sponge with a tissue. It should transfer ink to the tissue with just a touch. You can blow into the vent at the top, and you should get a few drops of ink out the outlet. If it fails those tests, there may be some things you can do to fix it (I think).

The printer is a Canon PIXMA MX882 and the carts are filled by removing a rubber stopper and using a syringe to fill one side. The other side appears to be cotton which absorbs the ink through a small hole in the separating wall near the bottom of the cartridge. I believe the carts are made in Germany and sold by Stratitec, also called DatatekUSA. I have used their carts before with a Canon PIXMA MX860 with excellent results. A later suggestion was that the printer might be set for B&W and greyscale. That would explain it. Now to figure if that is the problem how do I change it. I'll try printer settings.

I disagree that compatible inks are of a lesser quality than new ink. I have had nothing but great experiences with using a compatible cartridge but I think that you have to purchase the right brand, where proper cleaning, filling and post testing has been done and where the company doing it has to follow some sort of ISO 9001 and S.T.M.C. Certified procedures. As far as the refill kits go, I do not like them. Firstly, the old ink is never really cleaned out of the cartridge before you insert another ink and, then, when you do insert another ink from a refill kit, how is one to know if the new ink is compatible with the old ink. The cartridge may not work for this very reason, but it may, also, not work because part of the cartridge has burned out. What a lot of people seem to forget is that all the major manufacturers are selling recycled cartridges as new, as the cartridges can often be reused up to 4x, or more. Didn't anyone ever wonder why they wanted the empties back?

No one said anything about compatible ink not being of good quality, far from it and
buying pre-filled compatibles cartridges is another good way to save on your printing costs.

Now I am going to shoot you down on your idea of manufactures reusing their own old cartridges
because they dont full stop, it would be far too expensive for them to do so.

Back to compatible ink, if you use good quality 3rd party inks they will mix very easily with OEM ink
thats still left in a cartridge and will eventually be gone (used up) within three or four refills.

Now again your idea on the cartridge getting burned out is also incorrect because you can refill OEM cartridges
as many times as you like again and again and they wont ware out at all,
thats the differences in OEM cartridges versus compatible cartridges.

Why dont you give refilling a try yourself, you will be surprised how easy and enjoyable it is
using your OEM cartridges and as you say only use ISO standard inks.

Happy Refilling.. :)

Still struggling with the same problem. None of the color carts are printing. I doublechecked and the grey scale is not checked. I contacted my ink and cartridge supplier and he suggested turning off the printer and then unplugging from the wall for a bit. I tried that, again without success. Can anyone suggest another possible solution?
