MultiQuote is now enabled!

DOH!

Well, for some odd reason "multi-quote" was disabled! I have no idea why or for how long, but it should be functioning properly now.

I'm surprised nobody noticed or said anything! (well except for @Grandad35 )

All posts there is now this option:

Basic steps:

1. Click the "+ Quote" link on the posts you want to quote.
2. In the reply box, look for the "Insert Quotes..." link like this:
   
   
   
3. After clicking that button, you can choose which quotes to insert.

Yeah... but it's annoying that you have to click the quote button first and then locate the "insert quotes" button to post... It's not nearly as intuitive...

I know what you mean about the having to remember to click a button, i often forget to hit the like button on here and just about every forum. I guess thats because im another oldie that does not use things like twitter or facebook, so just not use to click like all the time. I actually have to try to remind myself on here as its one of the most useful and polite forums ive every come across, i still find myself forgetting though and sometimes going back to threads and then liking posts a few days after the event lol

You can highlight then click "Reply" for each of the passages you want to quote. This will place each quote in your post. You do have to have your cursor placed where you want each quote to appear.

Clicking on just reply (as i have here) quotes the user you are responding to entire message.

Highlighting (left click, hold and drag) over part of their message and clicking the "reply" which pops up only quotes the bit you highlight.

For example if i JUST highlight the "Totally confused...." bit of your message and do not highlight the "I can't see any difference..." part then click reply bit that pops up rather than the reply button the result is.......

basically its a way to selectively quote parts rather than all of the users post you are responding to.

Another new feature (i think it is new anyway, but do not think it has been mentioned)......

Is you can now also hold left mouse button and drag emoticons to elsewhere in a message rather than having to delete then insert them again elsewhere if you put one in the wrong place by mistake. CLick reply to this post and experiment by dragging the previous emoticons or this one around >>>>

Once you highlight some text, a small pop up occurs under the highlighted text which allows you to select either "+Quote" or "Reply".

Clicking "Reply" will immediately place the highlighted text into the post you are composing.

Clicking "+Quote" will allow you to gather more than one highlighted passages and then insert them all at one time into your post. Each highlighted passage that you click "+Quote" on will trigger a pop up window at the top of your screen informing you that you have "Message added to multi-quote". When you are ready to insert all the quotes then you click on "Insert Quotes" button on the lower left below the window that you always use to type a post.

Both of these functions are very nice tools to have and can save a lot of time and space when composing posts.
