That’s not surprising at all, but if you tried to purchase the same item from the US at $299 minus the $45 discount, it would probably cost far more than the £299 in the UK with customs + Vat, my MS mini cost me an extra €85 duty.
The CR-10 from China had no customs duty or VAT applied, go figure..

My Chinese Anet A8 shipped from a European warehouse, so I assumed VAT had been paid on entry to the EU, but I subsequently discovered the price was the same if it shipped direct from China. I don't understand
