Photos are printed using Canon Easy-PhotoPrint EX on UnitedOffice glossy A4 paper 280g/sqm. At the end of the print, paper touches the printhead.

This does not happen when printing on HP Everyday PhotoPaper glossy A4 200g/sqm using the same settings.

I tried "prevent paper abrasion" ON - original problem solved, BUT the photo looks realy bad, ink drops in all the wrong places... so it's not a solution.

Any idea on how to solve this?

I think the paper is the Sihl glossy paper sold by Lidl?

I recently bought 4 packs of this paper, and after reading your post I opened one pack and did a test print using a Pixma 5200. The paper was fed from the rear tray. The cassette feed should not be used with photo paper. I had no problems.

My paper is perfectly flat, could your paper be curled? Could it be "uncurled"?

I suggest you do a new printhead alignment with the paper abrasion setting on, and I recommend doing a manual printhead alignment, using the photo paper.

The printhead has two nozzle sets for printing in each direction, when printing bi-directionally, and these nozzle sets are not parallel but angled slightly; the purpose of the printhead alignment is to get the best alignment of the two parts of the print. As the nozzle sets are not parallel the printhead alignment is dependent on the printhead to paper distance.

Yes, the paper is imported by Sihl and sold by Lidl:

Peter, you are a genius! The paper did have a slight curl in that zone and turning it 180 deg in the tray solved the problem. So simple...
Thank you!

Thank you

I'm glad the simple solution worked. The paper looks exactly like the the paper I bought. I guess Lidl bought a large batch of this paper and distributed it around Europe.

The packs I bought were 5,7 euro each. How much did you pay for it?

If I remember correctly I paid DKK 40 = 5.36 for a pack of 50 A4 sheets.

And the UK offer was 4.99 = 5.79 for a pack of 50 A4 sheets.

And the paper was offered around the 20th of January this year in Denmark and the UK.
