I've been hearing about this new technology allegedly found in Australia and all the claims about how it'll include cheap consumables, be cheap, unbelievable fast, etc...

Anyone actually seen or received more information on these systems from someone you'd actually trust to know what they're talking about.

I'm still trying to understand the rational of $300 for an A4 inkjet that can printer 50 pages edge to edge in a minute without paper jam, etc... I mean, hello?!!

Websnail,

These printers were mentioned here. Their website doesn't appear to have changed in the last year, so one must wonder how close they are to market. Here is a little more information, plus a lot of discussion after the article.

Nice printers if they a real. Canon better design some printhead with clogged nozzle detection and some algorithm to compensate for clogged nozzles imho.

I doubt that big companies will try new technology they let somebody else test it. Ricoh has got some simmilar printers www.gelsprinter.com shipping allready. But they are not so popular. I wonder why?

Ricoh tend to sell a lot of printers to schools and I get to hear a lot of stuff about their reliability, etc... erm... *cough*

I do wonder if this whole memjet thing is just a bit of a pipe dream..

I wonder if you have this technology for over a year what is the problem to mass production?
Can't they find investors if they do not have enough money themselves ?

But how then did all research and those printers in the video clips? I taught to make a prototype cost is a least 10 times more. Perhaps they got broke when they spent all money on making those prototypes and it turn out they have nasty clog problem - so in the end they can't sell it?

I thought the video clips were hilarious... after all you can't see the paper before it comes out of the printer and we've all seen the paper feed trick on shows where an Epson C40 suddenly prints at rocket speed! :)

Anyway, best not to be too cocky.. It might be true but so far I know of no-one who's heard more than the articles online.
