Im new to this site and am looking for section which deals with HP cartridges. Most all the comments and questions I see are for Cannon products. Is this meant to be a Cannon site only or am I missing something here.
Ive been refilling my HP #97 and #94 carts (for my PSC 1610 all in one) for some time now and all of the sudden Im having trouble getting them to last more than 2 refills. The printer puts up a msg that it is not recognizing the cart. and says to remove and clean the contacts. This does no good. If I let the cart. sit for a day or two out of the printer and then put it back in it is recognized for a few hours and then it gives me the msg again. Once the cart. is recognized it seems to print just fine. Not sure what to think here. Maybe my printer is going bad, but I dont think so. A brand new cart or a refilled one will work for one or two refills before this happens.

Hi pearlhouse

For some reason this forum is mostly a Canon forum. It is not for Canon owners exclusively, but most members are Canon owners and some maybe even Canon enthusiasts. For more info on HP printers you could check out: http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/forums/inkjet

Your problem could be caused by the cartridge being flagged empty by the printer. Some older HP printers remember the two last installed cartridges of each type, so you can trick the printer into resetting ink levels by using the "three cartridge method" : http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=6211

Some think a software update by HP made it harder to refill: http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=4549 and it could be uninstalled using a driver roll back or you might have to uninstall all HP software and reinstall from the CD and avoid updates if this is true.
