Microsoft has published a notice acknowledging that update KB4557957 may render certain printers unable to print. The tech giant warns users that the “[p]rint spooler may error or close unexpectedly when attempting to print and no output will come from affected printer.” Also, it says the app users are attempting to print from may close unexpectedly. Finally, it admits that the issue “might also affect software-based printers, for example printing to PDF.”

I DO NOT have the KB4557957 update.

I DO HAVE the KB4560960 update.

Either update may cause printing problems or other issues.

I do NOT have any printing issues, or other issues, discovered as of yet. YMMV

I had the KB4560960 update, this was causing a Brother DCP-195C to stop working, - nothing - no error indication whatever. Deinstallation fixed that problem.
I'm reading that Brother printers are affected, and some HP printers by the other KB update.

Thanks for the heads up guys,
I'm still on Win10-1903 and KB4560960 appears in my list of pending updates, which the system reminds me every day are essential to perform in order to keep my computer working.
It seems that this update what it really does is prevent the computer from working properly. Prevent or keep, a mere question of semantics for our dear boys and girls of Microsoft.

Your options are

• Do not install that specific update, though Windows may eventually force it on you.
• Install the update. If no issues then you're good to go.
• Install the update. If problems then uninstall the update and "hide" it so it is not re-installed.
