That is an awesome record! Congratulations.

Goes to show that the Durchstich Method is about as easy as it comes and can be trouble-free.

So what are your secrets? A meticulously controlled temp and humidity room in an Intel chip fabrication plant? ;)

never thought i'd get 70 refills w/o a purge

the Canon bean counters must be rolling over in their grave. then again, they are smiling since the new Canon carts are opaque.....

Could the reason for you success and longevity be that, you never let your cartridges empty completely and you replace them when showing low?..

What is the label on your black pigment ink bottles?

70 refills must be about 2 liters or 64 oz (1/2 gallon) of ink. What size bottles do you buy your ink in and how much do you buy at a time? I'm interested in your history of ink purchases. Did you buy it all a year ago when you first started refilling or do you buy in smaller quantities and more often?

been using the hobbicolors PMT-BK for my PGI5. i've ordered a number(7 or 8) of 8oz PMT-BK bottles over the years. usually order 2 at a time and then when the last one gets low order another round.

i usually refill when the ink chamber runs dry. i have a resetter but still manually inspect. PGI5 refill frequency is about once every 2 weeks or so.

my four CLI8 carts are the original carts from 3 years ago, each has been refilled 25 times, also hobbicolors ink, never purged or taped.

yes, the ink printer gods are smiling, the canon ink sale bean counters are not......

You've got three printers that use PGI-5Bk cartridges. Are you just refilling for one of them?

Also, I'm very concerned about the Hobbicolors PMT-Bk ink that is currently (or recently) being supplied. It failed my ink clogging test as reported here. According to this post, the ink labeled PMT-BK has actually been two different inks but we don't know when the switch was made. It's possible that you have been lucky once again and got most or all of your ink when the other ink was being delivered and it may have been a better ink. This is one of the complaints that many forum members have posted about Hobbicolors in that you never know where the ink comes from because it is not advertised.

i am just refilling one printer, MP830. got someone in the house who likes to print, she needs to read things on paper, arghh .....

looks like my last hobbicolors order for PMT-BK was in may 2010

so far no issues here, seems to be working great for me
