I have the Canon ipf710 wide format printer with pfi-102 cartridges at $70 each. I would like to find a chip resetter so I can refill and reuse these cartridges. I can't tell you how much ink ends up in the waste sponge (which they call the maintenance cartridge). I am so furious at Canon for their police tactics on wasting ink and forcing me to buy more of their ink. Unfortunately, while reading through this forum, I discovered that HP and Epson are not much better.

Does anyone know where I can get a resetter for these carts... Price is no object at this point.

Thanks,

Chuck

Those cartridges on the pfi 102 are so big (130ml.) dont worry about a resetter for now, just find a reliable source of good quality ink and youre laughing.. :)

No one makes compatible ink for this printer. At least I haven't found one. You have to buy actual canon cartridges, and the printer uses more than half the cartridge during cleanings. My money goes straight from the ink cartridge to the waste cartridge. I hate it. No laughing here.

It depends on what part of the world you reside in as to where you can get compatible inks from.
Image Specialists do both dye, pigment inks for small and large format printers.
There are many suppliers of their ink in the US and the EU.
One thing you could do to cut down on the amount of waste ink is to refill or replace all your cartridges together.
That way you would only have one cleaning cycle for all the cartridges.
There's a Chinese chip for pfi 102 chips available, but its (use once and replace) no reset on them as yet..

I'm in California and have not found any compatible ink suppliers for this printer, anywhere.
Thanks for the lead on Image Specialists but they do not supply inks for this printer either.
I can't refill any cartridges as they are unusable even after refilling.
At over $2,000 per gallon I don't want to replace any cartridge that still has ink in it.
And with half the ink going into the waste cartridge, the ink that actually hits the paper costs $4,000 per gallon.
Is there any liquid on earth that costs more?
I'd be willing to pay a fair price, but this is extortion at it's finest.

I would have taught that any ink specially made for Canon printers would work for you.
Can you not hold in the resume button when the cartridge is showing empty on that particular model printer to continue printing?
Then the other alternate is to get a load of replacement chips from china and change them when need..

I finally found a solution so I thought I would post it here for anyone else who is having the same problem. Thanks to The Hat for leading me on a search of replacement chips. I found http://www.inkjetcarts.us/ who sells refillable cartridges and cheap ink. They have instructional videos on how to take the chips out of your factory carts and install them in their carts. My ink costs just dropped 80% compared to what I was paying. Thanks Hat.

I was just about to post this response and info (http://store.inkjetcarts.us/ipf710-c148.aspx) from Ross Hardie's site when I noticed your success. This gent has >35 yrs in this 'business' and is an invaluable resource, most important is his generosity of time to help 'folks' like us. We are fortunate to have many other gents on this site with equal qualities.

I have just purchased 'his' refill kit for my Epson 3880 (Inkjet Republic is another source for the item but does not care to answer/talk on the phone) and spent considerable phone time reviewing the setup--much appreciated! The actual refill kit, yours & mine are made by a 3rd party in China, I feel it's thru his efforts that these kits have seen the light of day.

To call a fine quality ink 'cheap' is insulting--several member of this forum sell ink products that are inexpensive (reasonably priced) but not 'cheap', a derogatory word. Expanding your perspective on price, consider that OEM dye ink for my Canon Pro 9000 costs >2x that of human blood--now that's not cheap!!!

Glad to have 'almost' helped- happy inexpensive' printing irv weiner
