Idea for refilling new Canon cartridges - add own transparent plastic

I had a crazy idea about refilling the newer ink cartridges for Canon printers: drill a large hole, say 1cm circle and then get some strong glue and securely attach a transparent piece of acrylic

If the correct glue is used then there should be no leaking at all

Would this work?
Is there a flaw in the idea that I'm missing?

I don't actually have a newer Canon so can't test
Just a thought

I guess that you by newer ink cartridges for Canon printers mean the opaque PGI-x25/CLI-x26 and PGI-x50/CLI-x51 cartridges.

You are not the first one to get this idea. There are a couple of reasons for me to call this a crazy idea.

The cartridges for Canon, both OEM and third party are made from polypropylene, a plastic that is very difficult to get a secure bond to, using ordinary glues, like epoxies and hot melt glue. The slightest air leak from your window would cause a disastrous ink leakage that could destroy the printer.

Special glues suitable for bonding polypropylene do exist, but they contain some very nasty chemicals and might be restricted to professional use only.

From my own experiences with refilling the totally opaque HP 364/564 XL cartridges that are similar to the opaque Canon cartridges, I would recommend top filling the cartridges using a wooden toothpick/ cocktail stick as a dipstick to gauge ink levels. Other refilling methods are also possible, you can search the forum for a thread about refilling the opaque canon cartridges, but I think the top filling is the easiest way to refill these cartridges.

ir was just a crazy idea that popped into my head
i have no need right now anyway
by the time i need one of those printers, i'm sure they'd have resetters + some other clever person will come up with a better idea
