Hi!

I am new on this forum, I've seen very good and usefull and interesting information.
I am from the Netherlands

My problem:
I've been searching on this forum to find a solution to my problem.
I have a new print head installed on my Canon I9950.
It turns out that the 2nd part of the print head C, M and Y colors are not printed
I've done some actions:
1 Waste counter reset to 0 (according to tips on the forum)
2 Pads tested with a little bit of water: it runs directly away, so I think it is okay (also according to tips on this forum)
3:( Checked if ink is coming out of het nozzles with a soft paper: part 1 is okay, part 2 is nearly any color to see!!!!!!!!!:(
4 Dead cleaning several times for 2nd part done through service method (without PC) and with PC but only second part of print head
5 1st part works well with the colors BK, R, G, PC and PM.

I hope to get tips
Thanks!

Sounds like it could be a purge unit issue to me. The fluid on the pads should pool, and only disappear after a cleaning cycle. Is that your experience/observation? Or does it disappear immediatly?

Hi Wayne

Thanks for your post

I have done a cleaning cycle. I think that all the ink has disappeared immediatly.
I have done cleaning for the C M Y part
The pad looked same as the other (no fluid)

I agree that the most likely problem is that the hose to the right half of the purge unit has come loose and that there is no vacuum to prime those 3 carts.

When the first 5 inks are printing correctly, remove the carts and look at the top of the first 5 ink pickups on the print head. Each one should have a little meniscus of ink above the top of the pickup, indicating a good ink supply to the pickup. Now look at the last 3 pickups - if they are missing the ink meniscus, the problem is probably in the purge unit. If they have the meniscus, the problem is probably an electrical problem in the motherboard or cable.

You can also remove the print head and set it on a dry paper towel; ink in the nozzles will transfer to the towel. Any missing (or light) colors on the towel indicate nozzles that haven't been primed by the vacuum pump.

Hi Grandad

All 8 pick-ups have a meniscus of ink on it.

I have also tried with a paper towel: the last 3 C M Y no colour

I am trying now to open a completely defect printer I9950 to look how to find the pump. The dismantling of the "plastic"parts is done, the pads are now also dismantled. Now I have to find the pump. I have an German information found:
http://www.druckerchannel.de/artikel.php?ID=1135&seite=1&t=horrormeldung_resttintentank_voll
I do not understand which screws have to lose, so I cannot find the pump
(excuse me for mistakes in spelling)

Thanks

It sounds like you have a light vacuum on the last 3 heads, but not enough to pull ink fully into the nozzles. My guess is that the purge unit is at fault.

Thanks all for your reaction. I think it is great to get very good answers from USA and other parts in the world to me in Holland...!

The problem:
I think it is the problem, but for me the problem is how to reach the purge unit.
On another machine I have dismantled all the "plastic" housing, but I cannot see how to reacht the purge unit.

I have found how to open it, I have dismantled the bottom from the printer-parts. I see now the tubes on my testing machine. They are all lose. Is it right that only the thin (black) two tubes are connected and the (a little) larger (clear /white) tubes are lose, or are they also connected?

I will try to make tomorrow (it is in Holland now 24.30 hour or 00.30 hour)
So I hope tomorrow to continue this exercise.

If possible and when successful I will make some photo's and post them on this forum.
