I have been refilling Canon carts for some time now. My mother bought an Hp a few years back and I was wondering if it is possible to refill these carts? Also who would be some suppliers for the inks. Basically I can see where there is a hole on bottom I could push in a syringe and inject. What about resetting the chip? is any of this necessary with this HP cart?

I prefer the see through aftermarket cartridges with this printer. It makes it much easier to refill (just remove the silicone plug). You can also see the ink levels.

As far as I know you cannot reset the chip but you can bypass the monitoring feature. The problem is that you really don't want to let the cartridge run dry, so without see through cartridges it is difficult to know how much ink you have used.

You can find many inexpensive sources for these cartridges.

Yeah I saw those. Does the Auto Reset chip (ARC) on them just allow them to be used without disabling the monitoring features?

I wasn't sure if it was ok since they are sponge less and with Canon printers the sponge being used is a debate.

Also which inks are good to use?

esp, yes the ARC chips work great with these as it is very easy to lift the hood and see how much ink is left in them. They also hold quite a bit of ink.

ALL of the HP 02 cartridges are spongeless. They basically work just like an ink tank for a CISS. The ink is pumped from the cartridges to the printhead, so no sponge is needed to control flow.

I have two different sets for two different printers... the ones from supersmartelectronics are the best ones IMO. No problems with them.

I have used the ink from supersmartelectronics and it is pretty good, no clogging, but the photo color matching isn't that great and they fade pretty fast.

For quality ink check with precisioncolors.com ... they sell Image Specialists ink which is great quality. I'm not sure where else to get good ink for the 02 cartridges at. MIS inks also sells Image Specialists.

Thanks. I guess I'm not as good as most on what search terms to use on E-bay.
